To be pedantic, up from what?
How do you know what the past years death rate was going to be without covid? ;)

The actual figures are irrelevant. There is a difference in the way that different countries report covid deaths so the only true comparison between countries is the total number of deaths in relation to previous years. Perhaps other countries have had more flu deaths this year, the UK seems to have had very few deaths from flu.

Except France .....
Could be right. The problem with the AZ vaccine does seem to be the big inconsistency of the batches, especially when its being made in different vaccine plants around the world. They think the possible reason why the AZ trial in SA failed was because the batch had been made in India and had a low efficacy. This compared to one of the batches made in Belgium which was possibly overly high and people are then getting more noticeable side effects to it. The UK production may have just hit the sweet spot. Although separately, you have to be suspicious of the government cutting the individual batch tests from 20 days to just 4 . :scratchhead:

There's no doubt they're tickling the formulation as they go , but what can you do , the whole world needs vaccinating .

As stated in the press virtually every death is recorded as Covid whether it is or not. The main reason being it saves the cost of an autopsy. Look at deaths in 2019 and number and % of autopsies. Look at 2020 figures. Probably numbers down and % a fraction of 2019

He wasn't quoting that, just the FDA query about not enough oldies in the trials.
We certainly know it is very effective in the oldies now we've done millions of them, just maybe a bit harsh on some. Also heard of a guy locally who had the jab, went out to his car and died of a heart attack. Don't know which vaccine and doubt if it was the cause anyway.

Gracious I am pleased I do not know you - knowing you seems to be an unlucky talisman. Might be easier is you old us of anyone you know who survived the vaccine unscathed,.

Doesn't prove anything other than deaths implied as being extra are really none of the sort.
As you know charlie
I was referring to your comment that the ASMR for 2020 was 9th highest in the last 20 years. To not be worse while COVID-19 was circulating must mean the actions taken must have had an effect surely?

Perhaps we don't report as many deaths as covid as other countries do which would make us worse than we actually seem to be.

All we can go by are the stats provided and we seem to be doing pretty badly
