Leaking lift ram on our Deere. I have run out of Hy-gaurd. Could I mix UTTO in the rear end of our 6506 which has always been on Hy-gaurd. Need tractor to go on plough The spec does match Hy-gaurd.

Thoughts please.
I guess you would never ever borrow anyone else's hydraulic equipment who runs a different brand of tractor?

Any one know what brand of oils are the same as hi guard
Or jd engine oil
Is there much price difference
Besides the manufacturers putting their own ‘spec’ on a drum of oil, they have to also quote internationally recognised specifications. Any reputable lubricant manufacturers will meet those specifications, as will lubricants with other tractor brands on the drum.
And please don’t think the manufacturers are the be all and end all, John Deere were taken through the trading standards courts a couple of years ago for using a specification exclusive to them, but it meant nothing.

UTTO

Better spec and half the price if you get it from somewhere like SJH machinery

Tractor annual running costs can be significantly reduced if you don't "buy" into branded lubricants 👍

Unless it's basic brown grease......

JD stuff is actually value for money the best 😳😂

How different is SUTO to UTTO.

Sent old fella off for a drum of UTTO and he came back with 15-30 SUTO.

It’ll be fine.......

Very different viscosity. The UTTO is similar to water or hydraulic oil!! The 15/30 will be much thicker stuff. Tractor won’t appreciate it as much on cold winter mornings

Part of the reason I asked as it’s in the backend of our Valtra n121.It had dumped all the oil through a leaking motor which cannot be seen.

When I started it yesterday it was a bit frosty and moving off the hydraulic filter warning light was flickering. They do this when it’s very cold.

Don’t worry about it. The Fendt Vario solve this by switching the warning light off automatically until theboil temperature rises and the filter stops bipassing. Yes really.

I’ve always thought the same and the last few years have been on Total oils, Dynatrans MPV transmission and Tractagri HDZ engine.

Over a similar period I’ve noticed the forager has started to use oil, about 5-10l over the course of the season. I asked our JD fitter last season and his first question was what oil are you putting in it. He said he doesn’t know why but it’s got to be plus 50. Had a season on that and didn’t use a drop.

What’s the actual difference then? The tractagri meets and exceeds plus 50 spec on paper, but for whatever reason in this application plus 50 is ‘better’
