Hey up

Right, as some of you may be aware hoggs are making a nice touch this time. Got a bit spare too invest in a fresh quad

Always been Honda men, tried Yamaha, too thirsty. Tried Suzuki, broke too easily. Tried Polaris, the less said about that 💩 the better.

Salesman is trying too sell me a CanAm 450. Power steering etc. Reckons they are just as good as the Honda bikes. I’m currently on a Honda TRX 420 manual and she’s getting VERY tired.

I don’t listen much too salesmen. Has anyone swapped to a CanAm and is willing too share their thoughts on performance, fuel economy, handling etc??

Cheers

We were always Honda, swapped to a Cam am and had some great fun on it but now back to a Honda.

We have a Canam 570 changed from a Honda 420 in November
I like it, seems good on fuel is better on the road, was a lot cheaper to start with price wise plus had a NFU discount, we hammer our quad hard and so far it’s stood up to test so far

I had a can am on demo and it was so noisy, also ran over two young lambs because of been very twitchy on the throttle
Aye we hated the throttle, if you gently opened it the bloody thing would stall so you always had to start off quickly. It was a nightmare when spot spraying could stall 50 times an afternoon. Never solved that problem so got rid early

No I’m saying the 450 is pretty sh!t! The 570 being a v-twin is SO much better.
power wise the 450 would be way ahead of the Honda but it’s loud and flat. The 570 has more power than the 700 Suzuki!

I tried a 450 when I traded in my 500 as I don’t need the extra power. It really was flat, noisy and lumpy compared to the V-twin engined models. I paid the extra for a 570 then, but have since upgraded again, to the 650 Pro. The 650 is so much better again than the 570, mostly on stability (& excessive power of course, if you ever use it).
I love it, and the only negative I’d put on it is the seemingly big turning circle, and the requirement to grease the uj’s on the drive shafts regularly.

I’m told the Honda has sealed bearings on the drive shafts, but why don’t they all?:banghead:

No, but it’s not a fault of the bike. Surely just a case of getting used to the throttle?
Every bike will be different in that respect I’d imagine.
I couldn’t get on with the can am’s I’ve had on demo either 🤷🏻‍♂️ To tall, felt to wobbly and fast!
I remember when I first had a yam on demo I thought the throttle was too quick compared to the Honda but I soon got used to it and now I find the Honda it’s the gearbox that slows it down.

What Yamaha did @Anymulewilldo try? I had an old grizzly 450 on hire last year for lambing and that thing drank like no tomorrow, I forget how many times it ran out of fuel and in 20 years of quads we’d never ran out. The 2018+ Kodiak 450’s are seriously good on fuel, I can do 60+Mile on a tank but as there’s no reserve I havnt tested actually how far it’ll go. Black wheeled Honda 420 will do around 50-55mile on manual mode, put into D and it’s sub 40 mile - all the staff drive it in D 😭

Grizzly 550 auto. Seemed too devour Jerry cans like I do Jaffa Cakes. Call me old fashioned but I do still prefer manual quads...

Your old fashioned then 😂 yeah those old ones couldn’t half drink! I’m not sure what the 700’s are like but the 2018+ 450’s are really good and seriously comfortable! I’m already half way up the field before the titanic (Honda) has turned around, tight spaces or turning on lanes is impossible, where the silver wheeled hondas would turn on a sixpense (at a moderate speed I could turn it on itself in a 11ft lane) the yam is a 2 tack effort but the black wheeled Honda you’ve got to go and find a gateway somewhere to turn around or just jump off and run 🤦🏻‍♂️
