Which Limousin bull?

Currently run 2 Limousin bulls one gets well off any type of cow the other gets well off better end cows.
Both go back to Willodge Vantastic one is a Claragh Franco bull.
Just wondering where to start looking breed wise for another bull. Fancy the Plumbtree Fantastic breeding next but not heard any feedback about them

Any Bull that is quiet and easy calving.

I have a good friend with a limo bull that he uses over his 60 odd sucklers, he throws great calves, i made him give me the ear number a couple of years ago, turns out the father was Sympa. Breeding will out, fantastic calves and bull still going strong at 11 years old.

Yes thanks for that I will have a look up on him.
Trouble with these bulls is the breeding is more important than what the bull actually looks like at times. Did a bit of homework before buying the last two and it’s paid off.

Yes, my pal and I were discussing it today, he sold some ten month old stores on Friday at £2.60 kilo, but no creep or cake fed, this bull throws great looking stores and seems to calve easily. He looks like he is missing a rib but god is he thickset and the stores to be proud of.

Yes that’s the way to do it. Something that has shape and growth is the answer for selling stores.

Is better to give a bit more for a bull that will produce great cattle off their mothers milk and some good silage rather than buying the shape through creep feed and cake post weaning.

Yes I’ve fed a lot of poor cattle in the past and it’s a dear hobby

Plumbtree Fantastic has some very good breeding, have u looked at tomschoice bulls? Lexicon is about as easy calving as you’ll find and will throw show type calves for fun

We have a fox hill Farm jasper (loosebeare fantastic) son out of a very good cow, he is very easy calved to and leaving decent types. We also have an older bull that goes back to Cloughhead Umpire, he is also easy calved to. We have only pulled three Limousin calves this year, two twists and twin 8 hours after the first twin.

Tomschoice have sold a lot of bulls into stud partly due to the short gestation length they are getting - Kaprico Eravelle helped them a lot with that trait I think.

Bruce Goldie is breeding some excellent bulls at the moment, just bought a bull locally whose father is a Goldies bull.

I really like the Plumbtree Fantastic breed. My mate has bought one got by him but he says the calves are big enough to get out

His grandson seems to be doing the job here show type calf’s, only thing Iv had to pull 4 of them but that’s out of 25. The Irish Iv never had to touch a calf yet and that’s there 4th crop of calves hitting the ground now. I’d recommend him! I’d actually buy another. He’s no Vantastic in his breeding either which is rare and there the most muscly bulls Iv ever had they look great and hold there own, great temperaments and never touched there feet.

I thought plumtree fantastic was supposed to be easy calving, most of the bulls I’ve seen by him lack a bit of width through their shoulders & down their back, decent ends on them though.
