Got a new to us jd 6930 , was looking at a 3m rear mower ( mounted ) , but thinking it might take upto a 3.4m ? what are your opinions, bearing in mind we mainly mow hilly stuff! Also has front hitch so will add front mower one day maybe . Oh also straight disc mowers , no conditioner.

Cheers

I'm assuming no duals, loader or front weights?

No bigger than 3.2 if it's quite hilly and you've got staff driving the tractor, those big mowers can really unsettle a tractor if you lift with the mower on the downhill side. You could run a 3.8 if you're careful......it depends how "safe" you want the setup to be.

What make/model mower are you looking at? There's a bit of weight difference between them.

I mow with rear duals and the inner rear tyres full of water, excellent stability in places that one really shouldn't be mowing and just gives that little bit extra weight/width on the tractor.

Without knowing how hilly your fields are, i'd say a 6930 is more than capable of running any rear mounted mower with front mower with ease. Our 105hp 5610 ran a 4m wide Kuhn with ease. They aren't that heavy without conditioner.

No duels or front weight , was looking at Claas 3200/3600, Pottinger novacat 302/352 , or Sip silvercut 300/340s

As a SIP man either the 300 or 340 will work power wise. It all depends on the banks when turning. The weight difference isn’t great but the leverage force is quiet a bit different. Very hilly I’d stick to 300 probably

It’ll play with 3.4m if no conditioner on
