I fail to understand how the EA take allowing virus's, diseases, hormones and drugs to be released unprocessed into the environment.

It's not funny to allow not just wildlife but our food supply to be polluted by our own cr@p.

For this reason and the utter farce of the EA telling the DTI how to get around environmental legislation so HS2 can destroy SSSI's - I cannot take these people seriously. They are just "Do as I say" robots.

Was talking to a customer today, she has a pikie camp next to her, they discharge sewage onto her land, EA wont sample it despite the pipe coming from their land and it smelling like sewage, they have just blocked a road side ditch to get a huge caravan in including digging the embankment on the opposite side of the road, they have planning for three Van's currently over 20 there. Not one of the agencies responsible will take any action .
Role on the revolution so we can sort these issues out

This is a problem that is not easily resolved. A fully functioning sewerage treatment plant is using bacteria as part of the breakdown process, if there is extremely high rainfall and flooding, and sewers become full and overwhelmed, this cannot go through the process, as all the living bacteria will be flushed, and the whole plant becomes inoperable until the next medium is working again.

No easy solution.

The solution is more investment.

It’s not an accident that Welsh Water/Dwr Cymru have the best figures and are not for profit.

Is my sewerage digester linked to my drainage system ? No.

So why do towns and cities link their sewerage to drainage ?

Wales goes into full NVZ and I doubt pollution rates will alter much? Most people know that the water companies pollute all the time. Anyone know of Newgale beach (3 mile of Sand) There was a massive leak just upstream from the river, the sewage had been coming out in the middle of a field for a long time before it was fixed. Thousands could be on that beach in the summer and hundreds in the winter, the leak was noticed when the poor PP grass on a bank suddenly went to 2’ high!

Does your storm-water go into the sewage system? If so it would be a massive undertaking to separate the flows. A city such as London would take billions over many years to revamp. We have the same problem in the US and it is a monumental problem with no easy solution.

We could add this to the 83 dog-napping thread - same people, different crime :poop: and same the same degree of responsibility from our elected representatives - f.all action......(n)

Doesn't stop them imposing expensive solutions on private micro-businesses, farms, that are not responsible for even a tiny fraction of the total discharges.

Of note is that the 400,000 discharges are not accidental and only cover England. Add on the number in Wales and Scotland and N Ireland and you would have a substantially higher number of high volume discharges of sewerage done on purpose.

It seems that they try to justify it on the grounds of being during 'extreme weather events'. Would that wash if farmers did it I wonder? 400,000+ times a year!! 🤬
