Removing stone from a field without harming the grass

Hi Everyone

I need some advise! I want to remove cotswolds Brash stone from a field and keep the grass in tact. It has been suggested to use a Chain Harrow to do this.

I want to put tents down on the field and make it good enough for camping but need to remove some of the stone in certain areas.

Please advise the best way to do this?

Good old Cotswold brash!!! Only way we've found is to cultivate like hell in the spring and run a stone picker through it, you do that and you'll have more stone than you know what to do with!
But seeing as you wish to keep the grass intact then it'll be a handball job i'm afraid, not sure a spring tine will do owt.

Use an old Acrobat hay turner
Use to roll stones in row hay for baler .

A really heavy roller, preferably concrete filled ie a Kidd, if you can find a local farmer who has one.

Get a potato grower in with stone picking equipment and cart it off - Will need to plan by first ploughing in autumn and getting some frost in the ground beforehand though....

One or the other - Won't get rid without disturbing the top 4 to 6 inches if it's to be done properly

We have a lot of stones and it is amazing how regular rolling and allowing the grass to Thicke will cover them.
However if they are already on the surface then time to bend over with your gloves on.
