Its not really about others folks thoughts...do what you like...keep the ones you like..and when buying buy the ones you want too...not what someone else tells you to...The secret is to have your own mind with that you will do very well i am sure

Do you mean what ram to use on them this autumn (when they're still ewe lambs) or a ram to use on them next year, once they are adults?...
Makes a big difference to choice.

Also what do you want the future lambs to be - kept for breeding, or for killing as fat lambs?

Do you lamb indoors or Outdoors?

If you want to lamb in doors and produce “toppers” put a beltex on the ewe lambs yearlings and texel on older

If you want a less intensive outdoor system put them back to lleyn , highlander, Easycare , Exlana ect you can still x with terminals on your b flock so to speak,if your looking to maintain a “type” stick with a lleyn

there is nothing wrong with either system it’s just down to your circumstances and personal preference

All depend how well they grow if they are big lambs this autumn then I would like to breed from them this year. I would like to keep some for breeding then sell the rest as stores

As they are ewe lambs I would lamb them indoors. I lambed all my singals outdoor this year.

Have sheep the same way bred, using Beltex and delighted with the results! We are running and lambing as shearlings, need to let them grow.
Sorry what you mean need to let them grow. Most of my ewe lambs I would like to keep to bred this autumn are single lambs and are very big for there age. If they ain't big enough I wont breed from them this autumn

Only keep twins, we notch all twin ewe lambs that are of certain breeding, unassisted, no TLD, problems at all. A faultless ewe produces faultless ewe lambs 👍🏻 Anything over 35kg at weaning is bred from in the autumn. I find as many ewe lambs that are 55kg + at tupping end up empty compared to 40kg.

@Jerry has some seriously good lambs as the picture above shows 👍🏻 I don’t know many other people doing lleyn’s as well as he is
