MF DynaVT independent brakes

Does anyone know if there is a setting for the independent brakes on a Massey DynaVT so that the drive does not disconnect when using them? And if so where do you go to change it? A 2013 7618 and a 2016 7720. Thanks.

What drive disconnects when using independent brakes? I don't follow you. :scratchhead:

Well. On these cvt tractors, in the mode mine are in, when you use the brakes, independent or both, the drive from the engine to the wheels cuts out. Where as a non cvt gear box will still be putting power to the wheels even though the brakes are used, until the clutch is engaged. If that makes sense.

Ah! You must have ‘brake to declutch’ function switched on. My tractor does not have this so I can’t tell you where to switch it off. I can only presume that in the usual way, there is a menu option both in the dash, selectable through the steering column keypad, and using the Datatronic screen if fitted.

I was under the impression that the brake to clutch feature, on Dyna4 and Dyna6 versions at least, defaulted to being switched off every time the engine was switched off. Perhaps I had the wrong impression, which is possible because I don't have one of them either.

Thanks. I have looked. Just hoped someone could confirm either way.

Does anyone ever use independent brakes anymore?

ours have never been unlatched ever From the day the tractor arrives to the day it leaves us.
When in the field, my brakes are always unlatched. My land is not flat to say the least and my tractors carry a lot of weight or two a lot of weight. Independents are needed for steering quite often, slowing a light wheel so that torque is transferred to the wheel with traction, to tighten turning circle, especially in narrow gateways to narrow lanes.
They are there as driving aids and I find them invaluable.

Its in the dashboard screen. Use the up down left right arrows to find the Transmission screen. Then find the brake to neutral setting and change it. Quickest way would be to look in the operators manual as it shows how to do it with pictures.

And folks complain wen the brakes wear out prematurely!

as said I never felt the need to unlatch them on our tractors. In hilly ground like ours there way safer locked together and with vario box in our main tractor I hardly need to use brakes anyway as long as I set it up and drive it right

even round baling I can run all day without using the brakes

Just my opinion but life without independent brakes in cultivation sounds like a nightmare, heavy implements on the 3ptl, sticky conditions and working on slopes they are a must have, especially headlands as well

This is what I had tried before. But it doesn't seem to change the actions of the tractor. Maybe the system has a bug/needs software update.
