AHDB Looking for new board members

Now all those that have been vocal about how AHDB need to change start with the excuses.
Haven't got the time,
I can earn more doing other things
Blah blah blah.

Step up and make a difference!

WALOB. I don't have to be football manager material to have the right to criticise my teams manager. I don't have to be author material to have the right to criticise a book. Paying my hard earned money gives me a mandate to criticise where necessary.

True but no two farmers agree on anything so the board is there to make the decisions, some will agree with them some won't.
You have a lot of strong opinions on here, it's pretty good money for not too many days work. Why not apply?

WTF are you on about?

I didn't say they don't have the right to criticise.

What I said if you had inwardly digested it was that to say they could do a better job and then not apply to show they can is a complete cop out!

I will apply, lets give the “make change from
within” idea a go !

very doubtful i even get considered however IMO

Three of the roles are to attract current levy payers from Beef & Lamb, Cereals & Oilseeds ✔ , Dairy and Potatoes, together with other essential skill sets. The remaining three roles are required to have a specific area of skill and experience but ideally in one or more of the following areas:

  • Data/IT/Digital transformation✔
  • The environment/Sustainability✔
  • Communication and engagement✔
  • Transformational change
  • Knowledge of international markets
  • Business management✔
  • Corporate finance
You'd tick those boxes plus a few more besides......I'll see you at the interviews 👍

i tick them all very comprehensively actually

however, people with a mind of their own / strong, divisive opinions like me tend not to be over welcome in such roles so I doubt i will be seeing you at an interview really ! And there are plenty in the current "ag establishment" that would try as hard as they can to keep the likes of me away from such roles i'm sure

but i will apply, cant be said didn’t try at least

Fair enough. I just ticked what I had gleaned about you.

I'm not so sure about the mind of your own comment. Things are changing, slowly.

Your like me you ask the challenging questions that need to be asked but other think but shy away from.

Many times I get "I'm glad you asked that" after.

i get a lot of people thanking me for saying things / asking awkward questions they think but are often not confident enough to say themselves

That rarely endears to the establishment however who generally love the status quo of “as little change as possible please ”. “don’t upset xxx, hes a jolly nice chap don’t you know”

i’m ALL about change and no industry needs it more than UK agriculture IMO

I'm stuck on what they mean by "recent" levy payer - I was until 2018, hopefully that is recent enough for them.

I like to think I'm instrumental in driving change..... If my students actually turn up to lectures, that is....

I have said on here many times that I take my hat off to those who serve. It's not for me.

You have said there that I have the right to criticise, then in your next sentence said that to criticise and not apply is a cop out. Make your mind up.
