Ring dealer again or "feck em"

Same here, a recent diet feeder purchase arose as the salesman brought the company man with him who listened to what spec I wanted, measured a few sheds and told me what I needed. He wasn’t the cheapest but got the order as he made the effort.

i received same treatment a decade ago. Dealer brought company man out. Measured height of bunker troughs, told me all that was needed was couple of axle blocks fitted to raise height of tub.
Machine duly came a month or so later and was nowhere near to reaching troughs.
Had to then fit a side elevator to it

I agree.I had Toyota uk contact me after I complained about local dealer on social media.they apologised and said they would get dealer to call me.that was 2 months ago and nothing.car sales people have the easiest job in the world.they know every one who comes into their showroom wants to buy a car.not as if they have to go out after the sales.had similar with a Ford dealer 4 years ago.went to get a price and a demo of a truck.salesman said I could drive truck about a mile and that was it.called several times for a price and kept leaving messages over about 3 days but he never came back to me.final call I mentioned I knew the dealership owner and his sons very well and next call would be to them.rep called back instantly.I really think they can’t be bothered.

I went to local LR/RR and at the time Isuzu dealer, never dealt with them before asking about a SH Isuzu, 4-5 year old, they gave me the keys and said take it home and put it on your livestock box and fill it with animals and see how it tows 😮 I’d never dealt with them before and they didn’t know who I was. Had another pickup from a smaller family firm not come up a few K cheaper I would have bought the first one, unfortunately the RR/LR dealer eats reps and I’ve never seen the same rep there twice.

Turned up in the wife’s Fiat 500X to test drive a Freelander 2, we were told they were too expensive and nothing was under £18k and the rep didn’t even step outside of the door to show us the cars. Went in the next day in my 4 year old Isuzu and we were given red carpet treatment by the same rep and he didn’t recognise us, tried every RR/Disco and FR2 on the court (12 cars), cained the daylights out of them all within a rough 2 mile circuit and then told said rep where to go as he’d shund us the day before 👍🏻

So , controversial comment..... how many of you call the salesman back when they keep chasing you to make a decision? How many ring then to thank them for their time but to tell them you have bought something else? In my 20 years of selling I’ve had that less than 20 times.... most just stop answering their phone.... it works both ways .
So, did you call them back? 😉

I think we have established that a large part of the problem is that fewer reps are covering larger areas and therefore have a greater workload. I am very much for being polite but interrupting very busy people to tell them that the time they have already spent on you was wasted, doesn't seem very helpful.
I work hard to earn my money. I don't expect to have to work hard to spend it.

@Nearly and a few others will know who I am talking about 😉😉
Guy goes into a Merc garage ,to buy a 500
Just an ordinary look bod in a clapped out car
Would not give him time of day , would the reps , so got hold of md , and had a nice chat , did not buy car , bought the garage instead and all it’s stock , 😬

Not sure whether you'd like Toyota NZ or not. The dealers don't really have salespeople now, just staff to set you up with a test drive then help you choose the spec. That spits out a price and you're done, no haggling or fecking about playing the "you'll have to do better than that" nonsense.
If you want it, buy it and they get it delivered from central stock (I think) Don't need a vehicle so I haven't tried them but it must be working as they have been doing it a while.

Getting prices for trailers, was only interested in a couple of brands, both sold close by. Got one price which seems a little higher than i would like, so though i would try another dealer who i did purchase a machine off last year. Rang Wednesday morning, spoke to girl on phone, chap you want is with a customer, I will get him to ring you back. Friday morning now and still not heard back from him, do they deserve the business? Its a small family run business as well that i would want to support, they sell good brands as well.
Well did you give them another chance

I have told before, my next door neighbour sold his company to a German group. When the deal was done at the works, the new German boss looked out of the window at my friends pride and joy, a Rover SD1, said we like our senior staff to drive Mercedes.
so that weekend, with his pockets full of money he went to the local MB dealership in his gardening gear to look at the options. Wandering around the showroom a saleman came up, took one look at him and suggested that there was nothing in the showroom in my friends price bracket!
He stayed at the company for another 10- 15 years and the never bought a single Mercedes car , van or lorry in that time. Must have cost MB several million in todays terms

I normally just drop a short email, precisely to stop the chase up calls. I two was surprised when one chemical supplier said I was unique.

My son (18) and I did a tour around various dealer looking at machine couple of years ago.
When he had made a decision I let him call and place the order.
Then I said he had to call and tell the 2 others to thank them and say they weren't successful in getting the order.
As one said to him thank you for the call there is always next time.

Rang someone after purchasing a machine after using it for 1st time.
Storeman took call and said to dealer "its Sid about that machine you sold him" " ah sh!t what's gone wrong with that" was his reply.
When I spoke to him I said I was calling to say how happy I was with the machine, he said no one does that, I thought something had gone wrong!

Perhaps we should be more talkative and give more feedback?

A friend called in Likes in a boiler suit in his series three LR to get a price for a new 90 as a straight deal. He said he wanted to buy a landrover and the Bimbo with fake t!ts looked him up and down and said the tradeins were round the back.🤗

trouble is many of the younger reps don't show any respect for us 'oldies', as you say, works both ways, young rep, not machinery, called in, chatted to son, ignored me ! (perhaps l cant blame him.....)

I would NEVER do that. I used to speak to anyone, wife, father, mother, herdsman. Didn't matter to me. Treat all as the same. Would never ignore anyone.

l was told as a boy, never judge the wealth of a person, by his clothing, esp farmers, as a rule of thumb, the most 'dapper' dressed, are usually the poorest, not always correct, but the 'working clothes' is never written off.
My grandfather got the tenancy of this farm, by turning up in his work clothes, the lady owners, thought he looked like a worker, 1926.

That would be ok and I can see that coming in the car world but it’s being ignored that really annoys me.I’ve had it with dealers over drills, tractors and excavators.

That’s the future, why do we really need dealers
