They usually are, however in some cases it does not appear to work. everyone in sales should be paid on performance, that's what get's them out of bed in a morning.

I am a firm believer in a sales reward system that pays a basic+commission+% of profit+ overall profit sharing. All incentives for them and the Company to do well.

Selling volume at low margin is all well and good, and helps future spare parts trade, however a little less, with a little more profit is also a good solution.

Turnover = Vanity
Profit = Sanity
Most companies pay their sales team on RGP (retained gross profit) . That way they sell at a margin that is fair and ensures the company makes money. I know some reps that stay approx 2 years at dealers. They sell lots at very low profit then when it finally catches up with them, they move on and start again!. I knew one chap that had 5 jobs in 6 years!

To the op, I can't keep up! - what was the outcome?
Did they get back to you this week?!
No never did hear anything back even after 2 phone calls and 1 email, still not made my mind up yet on the other quote I got yet. For some reason the price has risen 700 since last year. I got pee'd off with it to be honest.

It's a tough one. There does seem to be a lot of people on TFF who have zero response from salespeople and it mostly seems to be machinery orientated. I would endeavour for contact and deal with enquiries pretty quickly, phone within 24 hours (assuming I wasn't on holiday) and then go and visit in person within 5-7 days. Might even go on a weekend for the right client.

I can imagine the machinery world is full of all sorts mind and not all of them buyers who were genuinely going to buy something.

i dont trade anything in ? if a new sale was to be made it would be at the best price for a paid at time of collection deal i think on reflection that when the price is agreed and delivery date is understood a deposit is payed and balance then paid on collection of said vehicle thats the type of deal ive done in the past ?

Possibly but I still stand behind my first statement. It illustrates to me how far down in society a lot of farmers have fallen.
In general, dealer salesmen earn between 30-70k and everything in between. Some make their company money, some cost them money. Some only earn 25k..... it’s as long as it is short

new tractor deal, same breed spec, usual dealership had 1st chance, after long discussions, over the phone, he has not seen the p/x tractor, his 'book' price was much lower, than the other d/ship, he had till monday night to 'finalise' the deal, still heard nothing, deals been done. Both d/ships know there is another p/x deal likely, very soon. So, 2 new tractors, and cant be arsed to come out, or quote sensibly, makes one wonder, rep did get extra leeway, because the other, although closer, has had a 'negative' review, but the mechanics, and rep, have changed, and 'good' whispers now, just hope they are right.
Could you rewrite that, but with more comma's?
