Beet drill problem.

I've been using a chain driven kv beet drill and for some reason the main drive chain keeps coming off. I believe it's because something is making the seeder units run tight. If I take all the plastic covers off by the meeting wheels the drive wheel runs smoothly. But it gets tight as I go into drilling with everything back on. I've noticed some seeds getting between this plastic cover and the metering disc which it think is acting like a break. But I can't see why it's doing this. Any advice please?

Is it the right size seed? I am not familiar with the Kv drill

Talcum powder or French Chalk may help as a lubricant. If there is nothing binding

Is that mixed with the seed?

Maybe try taking the metering discs off and see if there is debris on the other side of them, if this hasn't been done for a while. Sometimes you can get a build up of seed coating material or bits of broken seed.
However, I am surprised the chain comes off even under high load. Have the sprockets become misaligned due to movement on the shaft or movement of the shafts along the machine for some reason? Is the chain too loose? Is there a seizing bearing somewhere?

Sorry, only just seen your question. Yes mix a small amount with the seed

There is also a small depth type tool that comes with the drill to check thickness of the seeding discs.
