Trying to value a quote for the above. Whole day of an expert on site assessing tree health in areas of public liability concern (near footpaths etc) and a fully documented report stating condition and management priorities. Any price guidelines appreciated. Thanks

How long is a piece of string!!

Find local tree surgeons and get quotes from them. If they have a chance of getting the work then the survey cost may be more reasonable and they may be more realistic on what needs doing. Getting in a specialist arboriculturist will be expensive and may well be OTT.
All Ash trees will have to come down.

Far Better to spend the money on going around with the chainsaws and have a good look at stuff yourself. Sort out any current or potential problems , branches, trees etc, and deal with them.,methodically.
look out for dead or dying branches as a clue to overall tree or shrub health.

A 'box ticking /commenting exercise' by some theory expert costing an awful lot of money is where common sense and wastefulness of resources goes out the window.

whilst I like your Sentiments, in this day and age do you consider yourself good enough to survey trees? If an accident happens and insurance come knocking will your visual be perceived acceptable?

i wouldn’t want to be in the dock if a tree fell on someone and I had to justify not using 3rd party with PL instead.

ours cost £400 and that was for about 3 miles of road frontage

You’ll need to add on the whole day cost of the experts wildlife officer expert as well assessing for the presence of bats to determine when you can bring them down.

If they look dodgy I’d just get someone in to fell them for you under the 5 cubic meters a quarter firewood rule and be done with all the experts and the costs and red tape they bring with them.

Probably going to be easier and cheaper just to cut anything obviously old or iffy down within range of the footpath. Please don't encourage this rubbish box ticking carp. What we try and do now is just cut it down if there is anything funny about the tree, might even get paid for it if it's any good.

I volunteer on a Scout campsite in helping to maintain the grounds, where we have 26 acres with 250 mature trees most of which have TPO's on them. In the past we used a tree surgeons to do an inspection and have a report which was sent to local authority for approval to do the recommended works because of the TPO's. I would spent half a day with the tree surgeon walking round the trees and taking notes then compiling a report for the tree surgeon to issue. This year our tree surgeon is not able to do survey, speaking to others they also would not do a tree survey due to insurance liability issues, they would be happy to do surveys for individuals but anything in a "public" place non are wanting to do it. They have all said to get in a specialist tree survey company. We asked for a quote from a local consultant do to the work, and also stressed we were a charity with limited income and the quote came back as £1,800 plus VAT.

No Not touch them unless they are dying /dangerous/ with limbs hanging out over,
unless its left for them big lorries whizzing past to trim back i guess

other than that , the paperwork side of it all taking money out for no productive use, well that is madness in the World today, i think actually im getting too old to want it anymore....i dont really get it .
