Massey Ferguson 30 Drill or similar required for new farmer starting out

I'm on the lookout for an MF 30 drill or similar to go behind an International 574. This autumn I'm taking on some farm land alongside my day job in agriculture and need something to plant wheat and other cereals.

Must be disc coulter.

Optional: markers, tramliner, end tow (unless 4m then ideally would be).

Ideally it will be ready to go to work but I'm capable of doing a bit of repairing/replacing if necessary. Wheels/tyres aren't an issue as we do have some spares from when the farm used to have a similar drill.

Can collect in East Anglia. Based near Sudbury so the closer the better.

Replies or PM welcomed, thanks for reading

There was one in the Doe Show sale back in February.

If £3K is the price at auction of one they describe as "Paint work Average", I might be looking at some other makes!

That's the most expensive one I've seen, I guess the low loader bumps the price up a bit, plus it being at auction? Most I've seen so far begin with a 1 or less than that, although they've been out of area for me.

Interesting that this one has a type of coulter I haven't seen before, like a cultivator type point?

Does anyone have an idea on power requirement for a 4m MF30 drill? Would one go on an international 574 (68hp)? Medium-heavy flat land here, probably won’t be ploughing but using tine cultivator and light discs/rolling to make a decent seedbed

If I can pull a 6m with 105hp, and one field's on a fair slope, I reckon you'd be alright .

that type of optimism is basically fundamental to this whole thing I’m trying to do. Might be a go-er then! All (3) fields are near enough flat, not exactly fen ground but no hills either. If it’s a problem I could just slip the whole field 1 way, the tractor only weighs 2t, some people drill with a heavier weight block on the front!!
