Overseeding with pest resistant herbs/ legumes?

Got some old (ryegrass once upon a time) pasture, can't rip it up and use a break crop as already taken a chunk of the grazing platform out of production for break crops and full reseed.

Are there any species of herbs/legumes resistant to the common grassland pests (frit fly, wire worm, leather jackets, etc.)?

E.g. overseed brassica, plantain, chicory, red/white clovers, into the existing sward?

Already tried overseeding grass and it failed... (direct drilled in September).

It is for grazing dairy cows.

If the grass overseed failed then legumes and herbs will fail (they mostly do).

Was it early September or late and where are you ?
How bare when you drilled ?
South coast, mid Sept, didn't get any rain for a long while. Grass not super tight, perhaps it is best to run a mower over it before drilling.
I've had 3 attempts at overseeding grasses into existing established grass, and none have ever worked...

Will he have anything but docks to graze in a couple of years? :scratchhead:
It wasn't quite the video of him I was after, in another video he has a covered bucket of seed in each field and takes a hand full and spreads it each time he sees the cows.
He's only a few miles away from me & I only hear good things about the way he farms...unusual for someone doing things differently.
He also makes very good cheese ,Cornish Yarg.
