PRESS RELEASE 27.04.2021

Canada invests in UK Agriculture.

Canada’s leading wearing parts manufacturer, Bourgault Tillage Tools, is investing in UK agriculture by setting up a subsidiary business, BTT UK Ltd, based at Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.
Bourgault Tillage Tools are not new to UK agriculture, as British farmers have purchased their products for many years. However, having a UK operation takes the offering of the complete range of Bourgault Tillage Tools to a whole new level, explains Ian Clayton-Bailey, Managing Director of BTT UK.

Bourgault Tillage Tools having a business and site in the UK, offers many benefits to UK farmers. One of the significant advantages of this investment is to have a comprehensive stock holding in the UK to be available where and when it is needed. This ensures a prompt and cost-effective supply of products seven days a week at peak operating times. Bourgault Tillage Tools recognised that wearing parts located in Canada or crossing the Atlantic is not ideal when a UK customer needs the product, and workflow timings and weather windows are a significant factor in having a successful drilling period.

Bourgault Tillage Tools have been delivering quality, innovative ground engaging tools to agriculture worldwide for 30 years, and its founder, Joseph Bourgault, still owns the company. The company’s longevity and success are down to a few key elements, says Ryan Olson, General Manager of Bourgault Tillage Tools in Canada. “People, innovation, quality, and focusing on what is important for the farmer.”

UK farmers may know Bourgault Tillage Tools because of the VOS (Versatile Opener System) seeding products that are becoming very popular with min and no till operations and the quick-change Speed-Loc™ system as used by various OEM’s. Many other Bourgault Tillage Tool products will become available through BTT UK, including a wide range of parts containing our MAX LIFE™ Carbide infused technology, Forges de Niaux Disc blades and Industriehof’s Extreme® Carbide Line. This model will be tailored to the UK market and aims to simplify the farmers’ experience by creating a “one-stop-shop” of wear parts that fit multiple machines across the farm. It also ensures that the farmer has the best possible information from the BTT UK team to make the right decision for their unique farming operation. Possibly best of all, if a solution to a re-occurring issue does not exist, then the UK team has a direct connection to multiple Research & Development teams working in Canada, France and Germany to support them.

Stuart Aldworth, Bourgault Tillage Tools UK and European Technical Manager has worked in the agricultural service industry since 1980 and has seen many changes in agricultural practices. “Working at BTT UK is fascinating and very fulfilling. Being able to directly help UK farmers and contractors to get the most out of their machines whilst permanently looking to the future for new or better ways of working means there is never a dull moment. Knowing that we in the UK have a huge research and development team in Saskatchewan, Canada to work with, ensures the UK Farmer and Contractor is in safe hands going forward into what is a challenging future.”

Do they make one that folds narrow enough for our roads?

Bg

North America is a very large & diverse place

I’m sure they make narrow transport versions - obviously not of something 18 metres or more wide, but definitely in more UK friendly sizes of around 9 m or so
