Put ours in 3 weeks ago. It’s all up in rows now.
It depends on your seed species. Smaller seeds like kale really need warmth to get up and away quickly. I don't plan to do mine until later in May. My plots are still in stubble thanks to a breakdown and the dry weather though I'll rip them up as soon as conditions allow.

Gone with kale, linseed, fodder radish, Gold of Pleasure, white mustard, Quinoa this year. Can go back with spring wheat if required as another crop type.

I don't trust the weather any more, would sooner delay for weed control but put it in to catch this rain we've just had
Thanks! Got some decals to go on it to smarten it up a bit, just added LED lights etc.
The drill is an Erth Agriseeder. Irish drill, mainly for overseeding but works well in a situation like this when the ground is soft. Very simple, Accord metering so can handle cereal seed rates.
Was drilling somewhere a touch under 2 inches. Deep for small seeds I suppose but I see it coming hot and dry. That was as deep as the drill will go. 125mm rows, 35kg/ha plus sunflowers chucked in randomly.

Is it too late to to drill some AB9 plots?
Ive got a couple of plots that i couldnt establish in the spring as they had a cash crop growing on them.
Also, most of the plots that i did establish in the spring are mostly full of thistles!! and i really wold like to re establish them as they look a total mess!!

If you search for a 'rescue mix' that may help. I would think if we get some moisture in the next few weeks, you would have something resembling AB9, and hopefully some seeds for birds to feed on.
I don't think many AB9 plots will look brilliant this year, so the ones with thistles I'd perhaps leave given the cost of seed and no certainty of it establishing any better.
