ok...i admit it...i'm a 'nonce' but i've a question

ewes didn't get hep'd so i've been pretty sharp vaccinating lambs in batches at 3 weeks...until now

...been held up....got 100 at 4 weeks for first dose and 50 for second.....now i don't like to vaccinate before a weather 'stress' event so tom afternoon looks wet and saturday grim.....should i wait til sunday or crack on?

i appreciate you big lads probably have to crack on regardless

Best time to do them was yesterday. Next best time tomorrow. Having said that we won't vaccinate if sheep are wet.

Don’t do them wet, whatever your calendar says!

I remember being halfway through jabbing a bunch of 250 ewes & their lambs in late May one year, when a thunderstorm hit. Sheep (and me) were obviously drenched, but I figured I had started the mob so I needed to finish, so carried on after the storm had passed.
I must of had 50% of those lambs develop abscesses at the injection site, something I’d never seen before or since.

I don’t ever jab wet sheep now, delaying by a week is neither here nor there.

I won’t vaccinate whilst wet, manly because there are enough dry days in the year not to need to endure the misery of unnecessary handling wet sheep

They aren’t covered for a bit after the jab anyway so a day or two isn’t going to make a huge difference. We have mixed age mobs so when our young lads are 3 weeks oldest will be 6 anyway.

Bit like the covid vac, started out at 3 weeks interval then stretched to 12........
