Prilled Granulated Lime options

I don't know if you have OMYA products over in the UK, but we had problems with their Calciprill when using it through a drill. It becomes a powder in the hoses.

When spreading ordinary lime, has anyone had trouble with effectiveness of a following glyphosate application? If lime lockes up some of the substance..

How soon after spreading the lime was the glyphosate applied>

Before any of the illustrious Spreaders of fine Lime Products start, I am not wanting to spread the stuff!! :)

I am out of anything in the shed, now and am looking at what can go down the pipe with for countering some of the acidity issues when DD seed into killed off grassy seedbeds. I have a few ac to do this Spring, and more next Autumn

What is the best priced suitable product now...? I was a little gobsmacked at the last 3-4 bags 600kg I bought from BCW, at that price, I anticipated gold dust mixed in....

Have you tried Wynnstay? Usually pretty competitive for fert & seed, whereas BCW are only near when pushed to match a competitor’s price...

They had none available when I asked last year... hence a visit from BCW!

Wynnstay have improved pricing a lot this time I have found too, maybe the big new warehouse at Astley allowing more cost effective purchases. Handy for me too, 90min round trip for a small lot of fert. incl farting around with the u/s office staff who just look at you through the window for 5 mins before asking what I want!!

Anyone any ideas on price this year, never used it before but thinking of a trial to see what they hype is about. Plan to tickle it on with a fert spinner over about half of each paddock

You would be much better off using proper lime on grassland imo.
The prilled stuff does have its place but it is on high value crops such as brassicas where you are combatting clubroot or where an urgent short term (and short lived! ) fix is needed.

You could buy bulk lime, put on a fairy dust level of dressing at 200kg/acre and feel *just as good inside* as you would had you applied 200kg of granulated product- it's the same fudging stuff.

But ground limestone wont be ground as fine as prilled lime, therefore wont get such a quick response ?
