Spring wheat. Ploughed, pressed, Triton, rolled. After maize. Doesn’t look great to be honest and can see the wheel marks from the press.
When was that drilled, Lee?Spring wheat direct into a mustard cover crop.
When was that drilled, Lee?
Wow! What is the weed situation like, and did you use any pre-ems?27th Feb.

Leeks!Spring wheat.
Leeks!
Very average to be honest. Milling wheat looks to have all made group 1 spec but has yielded an average of 3.3t/ac. Highest yield we saw was 3.5t/acre.@warksfarmer any further update on how triton drilled crops performed?
Spring Wheat has definitely done the business here this year too. But ergot is an issue else it really would make you wonder in this new financial landscape whether we should be growing more of it and taking the better margins and grassweed controlVery average to be honest. Spring wheat has been very variable though but again it looks like it’s made group 1. Yields from 2.7t/ac right up to an amazing 4t/ac. Averaged 3.5t/ac and don’t ask me how because I’ve no idea. Grass has done 3t/ac of hay 1st cut and 2t/ac 2nd cut but it’s been down 4 years and the Triton over seeded it nearly 2 years ago.
So all in all nothing spectacular. Although we had a small bit of combi drilled spring wheat as a comparison in a Triton field and that yielded 1.5t/ac as I think the power Harrow removed the moisture in the spring as it was always visibly behind.
Average but no disaster! Second difficult year on the bounce here with heavy poorly drained land meaning disappointing establishment, yields and plenty of blackgrass seed return. Interested in their idea of Nov drilling on heavy land for bg, did you try drilling late?Very average to be honest.
