Not to hijack your thread but the groundworkers made a start on our 700t bin today.

They had to go down a fair way to find something solid to sit it on.

The vast majority of our new silos in the past 15 years have been local, unfortunately at the time we were looking at planning the current expansion the local company dipped in & out of administration, so we looked at alternative suppliers.

We have been getting down to the finer details before the silo building starts next week.

Main job has been to arrange all the bits & pieces, just like an enormous meccano kit.

The Sparkies have been very busy pulling all the cables through from the electric cabin, to connect all the conveyors, elevators, sweeps, fans and temperature monitoring.

All the cables are labelled so that they end up linking the right switch to the right item of machinery.

The mess of 100 different pallets has now been organised into what needs to be where for the steel erectors starting.

Also the materials handling team are on site to start on the conveyors, elevators and the catwalks which will join the two silos and link them to the existing store.

This phase will add another 11% to our existing site in terms of capacity. Then there is full planning in place to build another 12 silos with another drier.

That is a fireworks factory, they import bulk from China and re-package for retail in the UK.

Busy week here, lots of steelwork going on.

Silo erectors are on site and the first conveyor is in position.

The first two rings and the roof on both silos will be put up first, then the temperature monitoring system fitted to both silos before more rings are fitted.

The silo erectors have taken two days to get to this stage. The 6 lads will now work more or less non stop until both silos are built.

The first discharge conveyor is in position, other conveyors will connect it to the recirculation/outloading elevator.

I nearly said that as a joke after seeing the photos above.

I'm expecting they will end up being the same height as the others around them.
