Oh dear..... I fear this will be painful for many involved. I hope this is not a domino which subsequently impacts other merchants and then escalates the scale of the initial problem.

That's disaterous news for the farmer. More consolidation in the job... Makes it easier for the buyer to put more barriers to be put in place. Eg buying all inputs from the buyer why we let this happen I will never know.

Simply vote with your feet, or tell them you aren't doing it. I know plenty of lads that have done both. Easiest saving you can make on Malting Barley is FSS. Next best saving is independent agronomy. I would wonder if Simpsons were trying to do a deal as they have been pretty quiet on the contract front up here.

Have quite a bit of spring barley on contract with them,looks like I will need to find another home for it,only positive is it's worth more now than the contract was priced at.

Did they have you on min £130/t contract too?
I had ten loads on contract with them. Probably be worth more as feed.
I would say the biggest positive is you still have it, not its value

This is a genuine question as I don’t do forward contracts on my small acreage but are the contracts now null and void or do they transfer to the receivers and still have to be delivered?

Min £145/sept & min £150/Oct,had contracts with Lindsay's last year as well and didn't get any for this season,only had contract with them!!
