Westerwolds or Arable silage?

Got a couple of headland left bare on some potato fields (ploughed). Would like to plant something that will give us some extra silage and to provide a more stable base when it comes to lifting time in September/ October.

A few years ago I did a barley/ Ryegrass mix and it worked ok but wondered if Westerwolds would be more suitable? Anyone got any thoughts or other suggestions?

Location is Angus is Eastern Scotland. Soil currently soaking as rain has stopped Spud planting again

Would say peas and barley down south it maybe a bit late now, but given the season and your location it may work.

Availability may be the biggest issue, any spring cereal and peas or vetch would give you a decent crop.

Approx £29 acre
That means nothing without quoting the mixture. 🙄
& seed rate.
Hurrells Forage Express I've adapted, seed rate the same
HM.9 Forage Express Grass Seed Mix (Acre Pack) (1-2 Years Cutting)

4.50 kg MERIBEL Italian Ryegrass Dip
3.50 kg FABIO Italian Ryegrass Tet
1.00 kg HARMONIE Red Clover

1.00 kg ATLANTIS Red Clover Tet
1.00 kg CONTEA Crimson Clover
5.00 kg Common Vetch
16.00 kg per acre

On the website for £56/acre.....same seed rate but you've adapted it and made it half price for the same weight?

🙈

What a joke!

That's why you didn't put the mix up because you had totally changed it.

Adapted you said.

That not adapted ,you've taken out 2/3 of the mix and added one species of grass.

Adapted is swapping red for white or a prg for Timothy.

Every single thread about forage mix or seed you post in 🙄
