Should probably mention I lamb last week of January.... don’t think things sync quite as easily for the early lambers...

It’s amazing how different breeds act differently. I have 3 groups of 20 that all can lamb from January 5th, charollais will start soon after, texels late January and BFL mid to late February. This year I moved them all to start late Jan and the scanning % went up 20-25% on the Charollais and Texels
My Suffolk mules all lambed in the first 7 days... followed by the mules and texels a s anything with a bit of Welsh in it then lambed last... hoping too push more Suffolk into the flock and remove the Welsh crosses in the next year or 2It’s amazing how different breeds act differently. talking of taking the tups out - ive heard of a few folk wholl put the tups back in (i think it was feb time as the ewes wont stand for them) and run them until shearing/july,
it would be useful here as one mob is far easier a time than two.. even if the rams are only 6 of them.

I used to shear at a farm where everything ran in one mob, ewes and lambs, hoggs, tups.
Tbh the lambs always seemed well grown, sometimes makes me wonder why I bother trying to run them in different groups according to bcs, litter size etc

If he was enjoyed at the Eid celebration he attended I doubt he'll be much good as a keeper.

Scanned 5/2 for lambing from 5/4. 18 scanned empty out of 220. Scanner reckoned about half of those 18 would probably lamb, especially the shearlings. I would think he was about right. I have a very high opinion of his accuracy and would recommend him any time.

Yes I did that last year. It made for much easier management as there was only 1 mob.
However, I had lambs born in August. Whoever says Shetlands don't cycle in Feb/Mar is lying!

I would be happy to put them back in after scanning if the empties are pulled out. Everything, other than the ewe hoggs (all dry) is running in one mob here at the moment to maximise the effectiveness of the grazing rotation. The trouble is, this happy state of affairs can only continue until weaning in late July and after that we'll be back to sheep all over.
