Couples and store lambs were one hell of a trade at Sedge today, store lambs would be way above prime prices ( unless they jump upwards a fair whack on Monday ) and the couple's trade, well if they were strong lambs and young ish ewes they could easily make £130+ a life.

Some people just can’t be helped! Be all tears in 15 months when it blows ££££. I won’t be one feeling sorry for them!

I have no idea what it was but they put on FB that the top calve price was £700 head.

If someone did pay that then unless it is a very high end pedigree bull/heifer calve ideal for breeding then it sounds a bonkers price to me to pay for a calve!

Don't pull any punches Muie! Give it to them straight! 😂 😂
It winds me up!!
“I paid 1/2 finished value for a 5 week old calf, knowing corn is very dear, straw likely too remain dear and now I’ve finished it the b@stard butchers won’t give me £6/kilo for it” you hear it in various incarnations so often!
No one stands there forcing us too bid!! 😂

I don't know, the way some people bid and you look at the calf going round the ring, I wonder if someone is holding a gun to them or holding their family hostage!

I’m probably going too get told off for this... but here goes anyway.
I have noticed in my 15 years of buying out of markets that when you get a buyer who just won’t stop, odds are it’s a woman? There was a lady on Wednesday buying blue heifers. She didn’t arrive until 1/2 way through the sale but when she started blue heifers jumped £50. It was blindingly obvious that the dealers had noticed and were running her too hell. It’s such an easy thing too stop, yet women (and a few men) just don’t seem too get it...
That being said I’m one of them who bids by moving one finger slightly, twitching an eye or raising my eyebrows. Very secretive, don’t let anyone else know you’re in! Unlike them who wave catalogues or hands wildly in the air.
I genuinely feel sorry for them when the running starts. All you have too do is drop a few very expensive calves on your opponent and they soon give up!

Are you sure your not a Bond villan! 😂 😂

I'm glad I'm not up your way trying to buy charolais calves, I bet your eyes will go black as a shark hunting it's prey! 😂
