Long time ago in Yf’s one of the counties had YF Sweatshirts with the logo on the back of a Boar and a Sow doing what comes naturally…
With the caption….”Makin Bacon”
This could be called “Fakin Bacon”

Really p!sses me off.
How can they possibly be allowed to call a soya and wheat concoction bacon?
Surely that must contravene some trading standards regulation?

If we tried to mis label something they'd be down on us like a ton of bricks

Aye I think there was a ruling about Cornish pasties, could only be made in Cornwall,
Yet it seems fake meat can still call it the same as the real equivalent,
There really should be a test case at the high court to rule against this

You've just ruined my evening. All this time I've been devouring Cornish pasties in the belief they were actually made from Cornish people. Fudge sake, another good thing ruined.

Sainsbury’s are the worst in my opinion. I always thought Tesco but hearing some of the Sainsbury’s adverts lately are not Farmer friendly

I would hazard a guess that this drive for plant-based product is because if the meat component is removed the profit margin is much much higher than it would otherwise be. If you look at a horsemeat lasagne the actual meat component is virtually zero to begin with, just a snifter of it, the bulk is cream, cheese or pasta etc. Get rid of the animal meat- make more money??

Could I put a wheelbarrow at the road end selling sprouty potatoes labelled as avocados and call myself Sainsbury’s?

F-ing rogues, it’s like their advert for beetroot burgers being so healthy for the soil and much better for the environment. It’s all marketing and should be challenged and quickly.

Sadly it seems that propaganda works. There's a lot of it on the 'green' side and only facts on ours. Facts always loose out to propaganda until the system fails.

The trouble is that our representative body (NFU) seems to take the approach that as agriculture supplies the raw materials for meat substitutes its all okay.
That's without realising that soya is in fact imported.

Ok ok so some folks don’t wanna eat meat, Not a problem, but why not cut the middle man and the processing out and eat some good quality fruit and veg instead?

im sure it’s gotta be better for the environment than the processed plant based bacon crap?

Not surprised they're begging for money. They're in deep sh!t. Eaten through piles of investors cash yet still lost £6 million last year. Gut feeling is that conventional investors won't give them any more cash and the banks won't touch them with a bargepole, hence trying to find idiots amongst the general public to bankroll their failing business.

Meat is “plant based”. Wouldn’t exist without plants. What would people say if we labelled meat as “plant based”? To me that’s no worse than calling bacon made of wheat and soya “bacon”.
