Not surprised , Sir Ken will be turning in his grave , total shower .

@bobk are you the new financial analyst for GBN?

With ASDA being bought out by a pretty geared business and now MRW being looked at by private equity is this about selling capital assets and milking the balance sheet.
MRW is pretty unique in having a lot of processing in house, what plans may a new owner have for this?

i am under the impression Morrison are actually supplying and delivering the food for amazon on line food operation and in our area there is now loads of Morrison food delivery trucks that have just come from nothing pretty much overnight and lets face it buying a network of "local food warehouse's" ( morrison stores ) to amazon would be pretty much pocket money i think if it where sold amazon would be a likely buyer

There's a thought - getting out of supermarket retail and into farming. Not what the collective on here generally suggests.

Slight flaw in that line of thought; you need to first have screwed farming via supermarket retailing in order to be able to afford to go farming.
Ref the OP, it doesn't really matter whether it's a finance house, or entrepreneurial brothers a la ASDA, it's just shuffling deckchairs.

And now they own the abattoir, and will be on the way towards having the beef produced on contract by a small handful of finishers, a la pigs and poultry. They have no choice if they wish to hang on in there with the cartel.

Yes but Ken’s not at the wheel anymore , I stopped selling to them at that point because I don’t want to get screwed , if a farmer wants to get screwed which many seem to the way they market their stock that’s up to them .... lambs to the slaughter so to speak ... farmer s moan about farming but you know they really are silly they have not worked out that they hold they key to better things just they choose to be passive and be walked over trodden down , subsidy didn’t produce a bussiness man it produced a famer .

Trouble is, no farm is an island. We can't simply choose to sell in our own chosen way whilst ignoring what is happening to the industry as a whole, because what is happening to the industry as a whole is cutting off those choices.
