Looking at replacing my Milwaukee compact impact wrench with a high torque one as it’s not man enough for a lot of the jobs i need it for. Swithering between the 1/2 and the 3/4 model pros and cons of both?

Impact wrench you mean, although they do do torque wrenches now!

3/4 for wheel nuts
1/2 mid torque for lighter jobs
Impact screw driver with adaptors to 3/8

That's what I have works well for me.

I think the high torque 1/2 and 3/4 are the same size bit 3/4 slightly more Welly. Most 1/2" socket sets stop at 32 mm so anything bigger would be better with 3/4. Sockets are a lot cheaper and easier to come by in 1/2". My 1/2" has coped with all wheelnuts of tractors and Manitou so far but that means nothing

the 1/2 and 3/4 are much the same, light edge on power of the 3/4 due to transmitting force to larger sockets better hence why its better on wheel nuts and stuff, but they weight the same so not saving anything there.

for lighter stuff the hi torque is kind of overkill and the mid torque is plenty plus way lighter and more compact, if the OP already has a 1/2 drive mid torque or even a smaller version of the mid torque i wouldn't bother with the 1/2 high torque just go all out 3/4.

They will both have there uses, my new screw driver impact has a surprising amount of power in it with the 3/8 adaptor plus its really small and light, and then its great when i do need to use it as an actual screw driver too :ROFLMAO:

I bought the 1/2” high torque as an all rounder, and mainly because I already had a lot of 1/2” sockets.

She does everything we need including undoing rusty trailer wheel nuts, tractor rear wheel nuts, and general large rusty equipment bolts and nuts. In an ideal world both 1/2” and 3/4” would be perfect in a large workshop. However, as an all rounder the 1/2” high torque does everything.

My son just organised a new drill and some sort of torque wrench. The name Milwaukee is on them but so is “Made in PRC” which was rather disappointing to me.

through my experience with millwaukee impacts from new when you put the battery on also use a elastic band to hold the battery against handle. these suffer from a lot of wear and the battery ends up being a lose fit so losing contact my 3/4 gun has been back twice before they finally put a new casing on it. that being said the 3/4 gun is very good mine is constant use in a hgv workshop and roadside as well . in a confined space use ear plugs as well as they do disturb the peace a bit

the contacts are rubber mounted so they can wiggle around with vibration, they do how ever get very dirty, and i do if giving it maximum ugger duggers with the 9amp battery keep one hand on the battery and one of the gun, but only if your having to hang on the trigger for a long time otherwise i dont worry about it (y)

I'm looking at buying the Milwaulkee high torque 1/2" as well, son has just bought a land rover disco 2 and whilst doing a few major jobs on it a couple of weekends ago my Milwaukee stubby 3/8" struggled and failed a few times, the mid torque would probably do but think the high torque would be better but would need to be carefull as well as its really powerfull compared to the stubby 🙂
