Are the Vicon RF 125 balers any good or is the RF 2235 a better baler?

Both are good balers, the 125 is Greenland manufactured and the 2235 is Gallignani manufactured. I would say the 125 is slightly heaver construction, but the 2235 can wrap at twice the speed of the 125.

2235 is still a Vicon so far as I remember.

The RF2235 is a Vicon design and became the Kuhn 2135. The RF3325 is a Vicon badged Gallignani.
You can't really compare the 125 and the 2235, they're from different generations and are aimed at different users. The 125 was the light duty model and I've never seen one, all Vicon balers sold locally at that time were the heavier duty 135 model. The 2235 was the replacement for the 235, which replaced the 135.

Don't know for sure, lost track a bit after Kubota took them all over. I thought Greenland(Vicon/Kverneland) stopped manufacturing balers in Denmark and a single state of the art plant was built at the Gallignani site in Italy for all the groups balers.

Yes, I'm not as up to date with what's what anymore either.
KV sold the baler side to Kuhn around 2010 and bought Gallignani shortly after.

Vicon balers were built at the Geldrop factory in the Netherlands until it was sold to Kuhn in 2010. As far as I know it was the PZ factory at a time and that's why the drum mowers and haybobs are now Kuhn.
Kverneland entered into a joint venture with Gallignani in 2010, then took full control in 2012, the same year that Kubota acquired Kverneland.

It is confusing. We traded in our Vicon RF125 for a Kubota BF2250, which if you buy it in red is the Vicon RF3225!

What would you say is the minimum horsepower required to run a Vicon RF 125?

Does the 125 have a rotor? Knives? 80hp will bale with it slowly and steadily, 100+ will play with it, 130+ will probably break it

I'm not 100% sure but I think there is no chopper on the 125.
Never saw one, just 121s and 122s. I don’t think a 125 had a chopper but does have the “integral” rotor as they call it IIRC
My first baler was the "Greenland" that became the vicon.
Pickup reel and chopper knife unit from a pottinger forage wagon. Rollers running on sealed, self disintegrating bearings. Block the intake and you spent a happy hour cutting and pulling out grass before giving in and removing the feed comb.
With 100hp up front, it made a lovely bale compared to a claas 46, but there wasn't much in it compared to today's balers!
