Organic farming

It should be borne in mind that part of the reason for "intensive" farming coming about was the drive to have healthier food for people to eat. I've heard it said that food poisoning from old style free range eggs (not the modern fenced grass paddock type, but hens wandering around the farmyard and laying wherever they wanted) was the driver to get hens housed 24/7.
You still get bad eggs

I was referring to Highgrove in the 1980's

I didn't accuse anyone of anything yesterday, I just pointed out one of the other businesses in the area around the Saputto site-there's also a number of farms and a vehicle repairer. Please do not add to/make up things about other people's posts.

No, I don't believe sprays and AB's are "fantastic" I think they are over used-especially Roundup to "ripen" cereals and AB's in human medicine-but are hugely beneficial to crops, man and animals when used appropriately.

As I have said before, I don't have a problem with farmers growing "organic" food or people buying it. it's up to the individual. Whether it's any better for the planet, animals or humans is another debate. My objection is to the insinuation from the Organic lobby that all non believers sorry, conventional farming methods are somehow "wrong"

I like brown sauce on a bacon sarnie, but I don't berate people or say they in the hands of evil multi national big businesses if they like red sauce.

Oh you weren't very clear in your postings , as usual,
I was clear in my posting that the evidence in the article i quoted was that Saputo, who have historic issues with discharges, could be to blame. You just made up that it could have been anyone in the area with a blanket statement of accusation. Do you do that when your in your clipboard wielding occupation of being a RHA assessor or what ever you do.

AB are available for any organic farmers to use when required on welfare grounds with and extended withdrawal periods to prevent the residue getting in the food chain. Of course as per the datasheets on these products it states that you should test milk before being return to the food chain after the withdrawal period just in case the cows metabolic rate is slower. This is a new recommendation so previous to this conventional milk could have had residues in the food chain. So you also think it was ok for blanket treatment of dairy cows with DC AB's , something that has always been banned in organic farming?

Intensive farming was set in place after the war to feed a staving nation

I really don't know whether to be pleased or worried that you claim to know (incorrectly btw) so much about me-there's a thin line between being a fan and a stalker.

I'm now slightly concerned that I'll be at work on day and Reception will ring "Sid from South Molton is here to see you, Mr ........"

You stated elsewhere that you are a clipboard assessor of HGV drivers.
The equivalent of a RT assessor, with it seems the same authoritarian persona and probably liked as much as them!

If TFF was a pub I think @WelshSmallholder1404 would have got up and gone to another table by now... Anyway if you're still reading this thread, check out "Practical Farmers of Iowa" on YouTube. They have loads of informative stuff about all kinds of farming incl. but not limited to organics.
When someone, no one in particular, is hiding behind their mothers apron , ie. a hidden identity, they can more or less say what they like, in a pub they would get a clout
