2 heifers (R2D2) from 2 Goodwhone heifers. I only got 2 hours sleep Saturday night seeing these safely into the world.

Peed off as we had to put a heifer calf down today. Lovely black little lady also from a heifer, had what vet thinks was a dislocated shoulder from day 1. No idea how, calved unassisted and quickly. Had vet out twice to see if he could sort it and he set today as the deadline for any improvement (there wasn’t).

But it is deep bedded... by the end of March it’s not quite so high! ;) The yard on the left hand side has the main pre-Calver group and is 2 ft higher. From October it has the bulling heifers in and by the end of the winter they can poke their heads over the barrier and we have even had a wild one jump over when being handled.

Still short of rain ?
That looks a bit steamy !
Had some rain, but we had no grass at all when it came on the grazing platform. So tried to stay off it till it’s recovered. Back grazing by day buffering with zero grazed grass at night which is of mixed quality depending where I get it from. That’s from away ground. Should have been tipped but didn’t happen, so old stem with regrowth in the bottom. Had a few loads off some pony event ground and car park. Great stuff, but very short and takes ages to gather a load. All in all it’s been a tricky year and milk production has not been great especially July/August when I was hoping to peak, several thousands gone because it didn’t rain. Hey ho, can’t beat the weather.

We do sell pasteurised and it goes well i would imagine you are open to all sorts of claims selling raw intact I seem to think you can’t sell it and must instead ask for a donation or some such side step off the law
You cant side step the law to sell Raw milk. Selling it is perfectly legal but you have to be registered with the FSA and follow strict protocols. Its not a case of just milking some cows and dipping a can in the bulk tank.
