I’m no fan of the SNP, but I thought their rural policy was actually reasonably functional and sensible. Proportionally rural economics are much more important to Scotland than the UK as a whole. However, I strongly suspect that this chink of light of competence will now be extinguished in the name of a much more extreme agenda. My predictions for the next five years:No, no , no, you fellows have it all wrong; the SNP are entirely rational and competent regarding their economic, fiscal and business polices, this must be true because they've told us so. And, this being so, it's entirely reasonable to expect that their agricultural and environmental polices will be equally sensible and realistic and will create a better, healthier, happier and greener Scotland.
Does anyone have a more optimistic outlook? Or will I sell my guns, disperse the flock and home school the kids?!
Depends what generation you talk to and whether they leant towards Salmond or Sturgeon. Don’t forget the SNP basically just hoovered up the labour/catholic vote, neither of which were traditionally known to be particularly socially progressive. There seems to be bizarre phenomenon in scottish politics which I have seen first hand in people I know who are pro independence and peo snp.
That is they are often fiercely anti immigration (don't want scotland ending up like england).
Very much against so called "progressive" Policies such as gender neutral toilets.
Very much pro north sea oil.
Yet have delivered to power people who are doing the exact opposite of what the claim they want! I'm wondering when exactly they are going to wake up tbh. Maybe this will finally let them see the light but I doubt it
Ahh! So engage full prepper modeMy outlook is not optimistic, which is why if I were you I'd keep the guns, and try and keep the core of the flock too.
Get a copy of your title deeds and hide them somewhere, they may be useful someday when normality returns.Ahh! So engage full prepper mode
