Anyone using a Oxford cutmaker plasma cutter.
What is the thermal heating function like and is it capable of heating larger things, like bale spike nuts?
What is it like on consumables for the torch when used for cutting say 20mm steel and how expensive are the consumables.

Consumables seem to last well especially with it having a drag tip. Has good cut capacity but you need a good power supply for the 550 single phase, 32 amp plugs plus running the compressor. We needed to upgrade the armour cable to the workshop anyway as it was originally designed as a lambing shed but 16amp sockets and small core cable blows the rcd straight away. Not really used the heating yet, doubt it will be as good for heating big things but lot more accurate and safer for heating parts near flammble things or things that could melt. Not done much with the gouging yet either but got a bucket blade to change so will have a play then blowing out the original welds

Seems well built, its quite big and heavy but with the powersupply needed it's not like a small inverter welder you would carry around and plug in to a 13amp socket anywhere you fancy anyway.

For heating, it’s only good enough in my opinion to heat something the size of a 24mm nut. And you need to be able to get the end of the nozzle only a few mm off what you are heating. For cutting its great, consumables last well and are not too expensive.

I have an Oxford cut maker. They are an awesome piece of kit for cutting and gouging. I have only played around with the thermal heating function but unless I'm doing something wrong with it you definitely going to need hold on to your oxy bottles
