Common farm problems to solve via tech/app

Hey!!! I am a young enterpreneur/software engineer. I am doing a research in farming, finding ideas and asking opinions from more people in the field. Which common issues/problems farmers facing and what could be useful to solve by creating/building an app or platform. It could be potentially an internal farming app helping farmers and managers to manage the farm flow. It could be a tool solving particular problems or organising labours. Increase productivity and efficiency of pickers/packers if it’s a vegetable/fruits business.

Really curious to hear what could be the common challenges that farmers experiencing nowadays and would also happy to pay for a good solution.

Fuber....... Farming Uber.

You put a request into the app for say 100 acres of combining, anyone with an idle combine can then pick up the job if the terms are right. You would be surprised how little distance you have to travel before Farmers don't know who their neighbours, neighbour is and who might have a machine sat in the shed.

Note I retain the IP rights to this :) if it become an overnight success,

An iPhone app to measure the speed of a rotating shaft via the camera. Might already have been done. Can it be done?
Interestingly when I look at my grain drier fans through my iPhone camera they appear stationery when doing 3000 ish rpm. How’s that?
Edit , already been done.

Haha! I used to be a farm worker since 2013 to 2017. Was doing picking, packing and planting fruits on the farm. Had to wake up at 4:00 am for picking and at 2:00 am for packing fruits. I wish there were some app to wake me up properly 😜

However, I can’t tell I was a useless worker😜 despite not wanting to wake up that early in the morning 😊

Recently and upcoming new requirements possibly.
We are always suggesting apps for different issues on daily topics affecting us and the agri world.
Recent being Carbon calculations as per farm ,different inputs ,and whole farming life and lifesyles that is recognised across the sector and where we could sell, buy or trade if applicable???
Dragon's den look out!

Ive got loads of weather apps. How about an app that brings all the data from different forecasters into one app?

A farm assurance 🙈 app, so basically an app where you can record and store data that's needed for assurance inspections, such as spray records, rodent control plans, livestock health plans etc.

My project for this winter is to look into making the farm into more of a connected farm, by having sensors around and controlling automations, probably using a Raspberry Pi and an app, may be options there.

Is it the app that takes the BBC weather app feed, compares it with what's going on, gives them a mark out of ten and regards your misery at the real UK weather with pictures of Helen Willets in a charming frock?
How about an app that you tell what weather forecast you would like, it then compares all the different forecast apps and selects the most suitable for your needs.

For example if you want rain always look at the bbc

It beats me how there are still some jobs that could be made so much easier if the manufacturers put a little more thought into it.

Take Round baling:
1. Most modern Round balers tell you which side needs more material, therefore where the position the tractor over the swath. This could be automated.
2. When the bales diameter is reached, the box beeps to tell you to stop. Surely this could automatically stop the tractor and bring it to a halt.
3. Tha baler then beeps to say that applying the net is complete, therefore you must open the rear to let the bale out. Why cant this be automated?
4. When the bale has exited the chamber, you lower it and the box beeps to tell you to start moving forward to make the next bale. Why can’t this be automated?

It strikes me that so much of this repetitive work can be automated. If anything goes wrong, it is usually the operator that did something in the wrong order.

Your problem @young-entrepreneur is that it is the tractor and machinery manufacturers that need to deal with these problems to sort the mechanical sides of theses equations. However, they need code-writers such as yourself the create the algorithm to make it happen.

I know NH are looking into these situations.

Absolutely correct. It is all coming however. Isobus class 3 allows control of of implement to machine.

And as you say, NH are already looking at it, already present in the new HD baler.
