Sorry, read the title and thought you were asking about how to walk into a room in an impressive manner!
Would literally be 5m down the road from the existing entry and its on the maps going back 100 years.Look at old estate maps / early large scale OS maps for an ‘existing’ gateway, and reopen it
My worry is if you have to get approval from highways (road), ea (brook), district council (because, well they always want a go).....
Part of me says if I ask the default answer will be "no" or "give us money" so why bother. Part of me just wants to know the size of hit storm it will generate....
I'd rather do it the right way but am aware that no good deed goes unpunished...

Why do you want to move the entrance 5m?
Don’t think you’d need permission to improve the existing one.

Whos gonna check ? anyone been checked for anything lately ? a friend of mine did apply tot he council when he was changing his farm entrance to an entrance for a business - cake shop and was charged a small fortune. another sawed a very very big tree down beside a very main 5 meters away ... road by towing it sideways with a chain an tractor , no ticket or professionals , never heard anything just got the job done

Have all the gear ready so you can do it in one go then check for cables and pipes, and crack on and do it.

Bank holiday weekend, so a perfect time to do such work whilst the nosey neighbours are all away.

Aren`t you just moving an existing one?
Dig out new entrance - refill old space - ta daa done.
You need planning permission to move a gateway IIRC.
But if you just widen the existing one 5m I’m pretty sure you don’t need any planning permission at all.

I think anything with wifey needs permission, technically in the right circumstances you could say its covered by permitted development but the circumstances are rarely right.... Christmas and birthdays are the usual times for trying the PD route.I think smell chequer made a bit of a hash of that.

You need to WIDEN (not move) the gateway to accommodate the size of today’s machinery. Add a new 16ft (or larger if you can find one) gate next to the existing gate (throwover hoop to fasten) and job’s done. I suspect you’re not supposed to widen gateways onto roads by 16ft at a time, but meh- you weren’t to know that!
Does it involve ripping out a bit of hedge or a tree or anything? That’s when you’re liable to get complaints. If just a fence then less likely!

Gateway is on a 'c' road which is well travelled (although nit busy) so would be seen / reported in an instant.
I'm thinking way to go is
A) council - put a pd in.
B) ea - new crossing before the old one caves in and blocks the Brook
C) highways - visibility - better visibility from new entrance.
