Keeping greener longer makes it an easy target for a late wet weather foliar disease here - I'm only calling it septoria nodorum because that's what we've always called it.

I have had too leave extase straw down drying two days longer then other varieties, at the point the combine has cut it off it's still green.
Anabactic winds as I recall?

This was some of My Extase, ZeroTill drilled. Looked so awful in April that we only gave it a T2 Fungicide, mixed with a BLW killer to get the Fat hen.
I’m definitely growing it again!

May I ask the mixture at T2 which herbicide product did you use for Fat Hen. Thank you.

Verydor XE and I can’t remember if it was Presite SX or Zypar for the Fat Hen.
The Verydor was the only fungicide it had all season at a litre/ha

Hi, I note from the original thread you had Crusoe and Extase. Your 6 t/ha does that relate to just fields that had no fungicide? Or your whole farm average? And if whole farm did you not apply fungicide too any of your crops. Am being nosy, so apologies. Reply only if you wish to. Cheers.

Interesting to note that Scottish growers were advised in Autumn 2020 to take care with variety Extase due to potential issue with ear sterility if grown in northern Scotland. Any Scottish folk with any comment?

Every variety that has had a major flaw show up in field has had enthusiasts persevere another year. We’re in a run of cooler springs with more late frosts, until the sun spot cycle picks up or global warming happens

Don’t go near it, I’m embarrassed for KWS and their promotion of Extase given the widespread murmurs of problems. Obviously 90% of farmers unbelievably pay no credence to idle chatter on forums.
I can get sh!t yields without any seed breeders help, why add the risk?

I hope anyone planting this year doesn't Google this site next harvest after a cold spring to read how big the problem is after believing the breeders statement of a "handful of cases" on Facebook.
