Just in the process of re-setting the bank account app from Barclays . I used to be able to access both private and business accounts from their "Barclays mobile banking " app , but now with a new phone they want to set up all over again - Barclaycard too . I had this once before when I was setting up a Samsung , but I simply called in at our local branch , spoke to an assistant , and it was all done "just like that " this was before they made it virtually impossible to do such a thing again , a) we haven't a local branch , and b) I hate ringing now to the 0333 number and getting connected to a person whose first language isn't English , all in the name of "better service and progress " Yea-a-h, ri-i-ght ! . When I get through that ,( if ever ) I'll bring up the site linked to on you tube by Cowabunga . " Every day's a learning day " as has been said previously . Thanks all again .

I'm rapidly losing the will to live over Barclays app . The whole lot is automated "if you want this press that " and hold if none of the options is what you need . Hold and then get taken back to ANOTHER automated drop down menu . I've been ringing various 0333 numbers as well "use you keypad to --- " another dead end . SURELY , it can't be that difficult to answer a simple question , that many more people will have asked --- Can it ? Use your Pin sentry , and enter the code given . Right . Sorry you have timed out , error code ### . I give up after spending virtually all afternoon fruitlessly.

With NatWest, for all their faults, I think that all I need do is download the app and register it with the same details as used for accessing online banking on the desktop computer. Could be wrong as it is about three years since I last changed a phone but I do not recall any particular issue. I think this was the first time I registered the app anyhow.
Then just upload your credit card to the app, which loads it into the phone's wallet I think. Or perhaps load the card into the wallet which is independent of the app, I forget which. Probably the latter come to think of it.

Obviously the app is downloaded from Google's Play store or whatever they call their App Store these days.

Eventually got Barclays access sorted using their "pin sentry " - quite relieved about that , as I check business and private accounts daily at 10.00 a.m. - I like to reassure myself that there have been no unauthorised fingers in them ! One or two minor tweaks in the settings , and I think I have the measure of it .

Had a week's experience with my Moto phone now , and I have to say I'm quite surprised that , so far , I haven't any complaints . The camera and picture quality are both as good as my Samsung , speed , ease of use , and sensible apps , in fact , no grumbles at all . I'm wondering now how these flagship models at £1,000 ish , can compete with these (and others presumably ) at £100 to 200 each ? I got my Barclays on-line banking app sorted quite easily once I got down to it . And on top of all that , it's a better phone ! Just one thing to do now , and as far as I'm aware I'll be finished . I had a Samsung notepad on my old one , and that seems not to have transferred . I used that a lot for bits of information that I needed to remember e.g. digger filter reference numbers , and similar . There doesn't seem to be a similar Moto app , but a few in the app store , some free , some paid for . Any recommendations would be welcome

Yes, if I wasn't tied so much in with Apple I would certainly be having one of these semi-budget phones that are about 90% as good as a £1000 phone and plenty good enough, even overkill for all but the devoted gamer/time-waster. As I've mentioned previously I bought a Moto for my brother and a Samsung A51 for my daughter and they both think they are great. My daughter went from an iPhone6 to her Android and thinks its a much better phone even without considering that it's only about a fifth of the price of a new iPhone12 Lite.

I use Evernote. Used to use it a heck of a lot and as a consequence I went for the paid version eventually. In recent years though I can't justify that any longer.
The free version is excellent though.

Otherwise Google Keep Notes is another favourite but I've never used it. Maybe get both and try them out. You can always delete your app for the one you don't like or just use it for specific things. Set up folders for your notes and assign appropriate tags to individual notes to help find stuff quickly.

This may be of some help

I've downloaded color note and evernote . I'll just see which suits me better , and uninstall the other . I'm glad that I have a note app again - I've missed the Samsung one . However , in all fairness , I have to say that is really the only thing that I have missed . Thanks all - again . I'm not sure that I can transfer the old book contents to the new one - I'll look into that tomorrow , but even if I have to manually move everything , it won't be that big job .

Just an update on my new Moto phone . Everything works as it should - and well too , so that's OK . I have one very small problem - Cowabunga? I have my 4 most used contacts on my startup home screen . But I have to replace them each morning as I switch on . is there a way of fixing these numbers , so that they don't disappear each night ?

I've no idea. It's a long time and many Android versions ago since I ran an Android phone. Since then I've only done a few basic setup's for family.
Make sure that the relevant contacts are in the telephone contacts list for sure and add them to 'favourites' in the phone app. Otherwise someone else who runs a current Android phone will surely be of far more help than I can be. For instance, I didn't know you could stick direct access phone numbers on your home screen.

Hmm, never done this, so don't really know, but what I do is have all my favourite peopled 'starred' then when I press the phone icon they come up under 'favourites' - would that do?

EDIT - just added Adam (first name on the list) to my homescreen, restarted the phone, and he's still there.
I went into 'contacts' then selected Adam, then three dots top right and pressed 'add to homescreen'
Is that how you did it?
Have you googled it?
:scratchhead:

Yes , that's exactly how I did it . It does however seem a bit random . After last night they were still up there , so perhaps it was a bit of a glitch , and hopefully over it now . Fingers crossed !

Just a final (?) word on my Moto phone . Apart from seemingly having a life of it's own - sometimes it switches to "Aircraft mode " quite randomly , the little thing that really bugs me are the welcome words I get when I switch it on in the morning , and I haven't found a way to switch it off either . It's two words - I think -from a non-first- language speaking female I suppose it's meant to be "Hello Welcome" but it could be anything - Hi-Ho Silver or any other variation on that . Otherwise it all seems good .

Hello Moto

Thanks Sam , I'll try that -well , I'd try anything . I actually cringe when I hear it . Accepting of course that I'm just a grumpy old git ! Mine's a Moto G10 . In sounds - advanced it doesn't have the "startup sound " but it has "power -on sounds" . I've switched that off , so - we shall see , next time I start up .
