As opposed to its approach angle. Its the rear overhang relative to height. In other words does its arse hit the concrete when you start climbing up the pit?
I’d say mine could climb a fair angle, not that I’d need to, or do, as the contractor has a JCB 435S. We layer the silage over the whole pit, as we put subsequent cuts in.

So no 'Dorset wedge' pit filling then and a relatively shallow angle to the pit face.
Yes. Obviously shovel has to travel further, but it’s an easier push. The reason we do it is so the silage cuts can be fed out evenly over the winter with no abrupt change from one cut to the other. I guess if we had a different clamp layout, where cuts could be kept separate, we may not do it, as all silage is fed with a feeder wagon. Conversely, we only have one pit face open.

Neighbour just sold his Schaffer early as he is fairly steep and said it was bloody dangerous….bought a manitou. We demoed the weideman and thought well built machine but nowhere near as stable as the Kramer. This last one 3 year old no issues so far

Manitou will be much safer if he’s on steep stuff.
Will barely be able to do anything with it!!
Stability overload system cuts in on the slightest bit of uneven ground:confused:

That’s what I like about our Kramer when moving from a telehandler ……no safety sh*t cutting out the boom at awkward moments just a light bar bleeping which I can live with.

Trying my hardest to get as many as I can here. Got a 35.7 coming in the next week or so and trying to get a bendy JCB as I spent a huge amount of time on a Matbro TR250 and loved it.
We replaced 20 plus year old CAT TH62 and Matbro TR250-110 last year with a Kramer KT447 and a JCB TM320S and absolutely no regrets on either account. We bought the Kramer from Farol even though they are some distance from us. We wanted a pin and cone headstock which is available from the factory, but required a wait or have the Kramer headstock converted by Cherry which was slightly cheaper. Although I was reluctant about the conversion initially having seen the factory pin and cone the Cherry conversion looks more meaty to me. Personally I would take the JCB articulated machine as first choice unless I needed the height or extra lift capacity but as someone who isn't fond of rigid handlers the Kramer is absolutely as good as they get IMO.

Anyone any experience with JCBs duel tech? Been offered one and I like the sound of it
Swapped a Schaffer 8090t for one just under year ago. Still have a 9530t which moved to mine to feed, scrape and bed cows, JCB is at my brothers yard and does mainly grain and straw handling but also buckraking and cleaning sheds. Dualtech very good, does marry hydrostatic and powershift very well. Powershift kicks in over 20kph, below that it's all hydro, no holding on the brakes when loading grain or palletwork. Much nicer cab than Schaffer for long day, visibility isn't as bad as I feared with low boom height and good mirrors and we fitted reversing camera. Towing capability is a big bonus compared with Schaffer, although it seems to be sorer on diesel but I'd guess it doing more work so maybe not that accurate. My brother is main driver, my main gripe is the joystick but think that's more familiarity with Schaffer one than anything else. Black paintwork is already peeling in a couple of places is another peeve!

I looked at Kramer this past spring. What was surprising was that according to the Kramer salesman (Deere franchise) they wont fit anything but a Kramer headstock at the factory, and a replacement dealer fitted JCB compatible Q Fit carriage was something like £3k+, which was a deal stopper.
Went with a JCB 532-60 with the new shape cab instead, which I'm starting to really like.
They did have a few different adaptor plates going about they were sending out with the demonstrators!
