My son would like to go Hartbury ag college as we’ve heard good things about it and he likes what he sees there, but he needs to have other options in case he can’t get in could any one recommend some good ones please.

I went to Lackham at Chippenham, that's was National Diploma in farm mechanisation, think that's a level 3 equivalent now. Would recommend

Thanks I’ll pass info onto him. But I do worry there’s not much future in farming for him , he is passionate about farming but he’s not wanting to be a park keeper.

What does he want to study, and to what level? Surely that is the first question, rather than which college he likes the look of?

That said, Hartbury have a well established horsey side…

Bg junior went to Hartpury, was probably one of the best decisions he’s ever made. Did well, made good friends and really set him up for what he’s gone on and done. I cannot recommend hartpury highly enough.

I have been through a number of Lackham students over the years and have 2 at the moment. Some seem to really like it and others not as much. Had one leave last year who was doing one of the mechanisation courses, he started with me doing a bit of night milking then ended up working full time tractor driving after lockdown closed lackham. He was probably the best student I’ve ever had. He’s now engineering for a massive local business. So the training can’t have been bad.

Can't speak highly enough of Hartpury, naturally. 😬

I hear the college has record numbers this year so he'll have plenty of mates.

Re: Horses, I believe we're investing in an AD plant for them, there's that much muck......:ROFLMAO:

Also: is he any good at Rugby?

He’s looking at Riseholme college in Lincolnshire as a second / third option and Askham Bryan college in York in case he their is no spaces at Hartbury.

One of my employees has a daughter on a rugby scholarship at hartpury. She loves it and has a couple of teams keeping an eye on her. So could be a contract after she finishes.
