Covid Vaccine Roll out.

If young people continue to catch this virus & spread it around whether or not it infects them badly they will for certain reinfect older people at a time when their vaccines are losing their effectiveness, this will result in hospitals filling up with seriously unwell older people causing an ever increasing backlog of other people’s urgent operations, no easy answer but it does not bode well for the near future if we let this thing rumble on!
So we are vaccinating minors for the sake of old people? Is that ethical?

Indeed. Us older folk do have a civic duty to shuffle off this mortal coil and Covid is just one of natures attempts to redress the Gaia.

Do you honestly think that this is the case being made by the medical sector and the government…because it’s popular?
What is the benefit to children?
What did the jcvi say, remember Boris said previously we should always follow their advice.
What he meant was "follow their advice unless it conflicts with what we want to do"

Can you please answer the question without framing it around more questions. There are multiple strands for a decision such as this one….I would hazard a guess that on the balance of risk outcome, the Chief Medical Officer has recognised the choices, taken all advice into account, received all pertinent data and has made his decision. Unlike us keyboard warriors….he has access to all of the above.

I thought the case made by the UK experts is give the vaccine to the children to prevent school disruption? That doesn't sound like a medical reason to do it to me.

Poor education leads to fewer and lesser qualifications leads to lower standard of job leads to increased poverty leads to poorer long term health leads to increased medical demands.

Every aspect is interlinked, even if not obviously so. That’s why risk assessments of the sort being undertaken are so complex and decisions have to consider multiple factors.

Part of the reasons given was the mental health of children, less disruption to their schooling gives benefit to their mental health. I am sure there are a myriad of other elements which have resulted in this decision. I must admit to being slightly apprehensive about it though.

As I said up thread, school disruption seems to be because of the rules schools and the government have put in place, not the fact that the children are regularly off sick with the virus.
That is not a medical reason for it in my very poorly educated opinion.

Again, what is causing the disruptions? Their mental health is poor because of the decisions adults are making for them.

Not my experience or that of teachers I know. Positive tests result in close contacts (not even all the class) being off for a day at most, plus obviously the child who has Covid being off until no longer ill. I don’t think that’s excessive. Schools are closing due to unavailability of teaching staff though, caused by kids passing it to them. That would only get worse if all the rules were thrown away.

You could argue what is the point of vaccinating young people against anything in that case, why not let the poor buggers catch measles, mumps, whooping cough & every other thing they are currently vaccinated against after all it "probably" wouldn't kill them would it!

Measles kills 2/3 young people per thousand it infects, we have a traditional vaccine that works, (creates herd immunity)with well known short and long term effects.
Covid puts 2 kids in hospital per million it infects, kills less than one of them.
The covid "vaccine" is an experimental type of drug that causes harmful known short term side effects and unknown long term ones.
So, no, I wouldn't say is comparable.

Someone has to make the decisions, hopefully an adult with access to full resources to make the decision with the best outcome.

You just don't get it do you, we would be vaccinating younger folk to try & get this virus under some kind of control so hospitals can get back to treating seriously sick people of ALL ages, so many patients are currently missing treatment for what can be life threatening illnesses because of covid & this will get worse, hospitals have to isolate covid patients & jump through hoops to stop cross contamination.
You twerps quote figures of one in a million kids who might die because of the vaccine, what about the thousands that will die because they are unable to get hospital treatment!

“There are people who go around trying to discourage other people from taking a vaccine which could be life saving or prevent them from having life changing injuries to themselves. In my view they should be ashamed. And I will leave it at that.”
