Turbo matic clutch is a good job, takes the shock load out and will be fit to start of in higher gear than normally possible just rev it and shel take off gradually

Very sound tractors ,way a head of there time , you must have been looking at the same sale as me as I thought would be a good yard tractor and some thing of an investment
Pyketts have this but cab needs some work and electrics sorting

It has 47 hours on the clock, so 10047?

But will still make about 15k?

No idea. Seat is wrecked, but advert says 4714. So a rebuilt engine? Still a very tidy tractor. Our old 310 is insured for £12K and dealer says worth £10 - 12k as a trade in.
They were / are good tractors.

1987 Fendt Farmer 309LSA Turbomatik tractor, c/w 8 x Fendt front wafer weights. On farm from new. On 13.6R24 front and 13.6R38 wheels and tyres. Chassis No: 186/21/9914. Engine No: D226/4/2/80204. Reg: D246 XVL. Hours: 4714

Maybe think again about your insurance value,,you say 10-12k trade in value but what you need when you claim is actually replacement cost not trade value? So could be somewhat higher than trade value

May have been aheadof their time when they where introduced but totally outdated in the second half of the nineties. I pityanyone doing loaderwork with them, especially if it has the old transmission without reverser.

Ahead of their time is a ridiculous phrase. Ahead of the competition maybe but nothing is ahead of it’s time,it is of it’s time .
A 309 is a fine tractor but it’s heading for a fifty year old design at this stage.
As said above hopeless as a loader tractor compared to a modern shuttle box.
It may have 40k, front brakes, a 750 pto and electric hydraulic control but l too would not like it as a loader.

I would say if the clutch and gearbox is in good condition then there would be many worse loader tractors.. the 300 series box is quite light and positive to operate. I don't miss a reverser on ours as you can jump from a low to higher gear easily between reverses. Dry clutch is great for precision maneuvering.. 8 hour shift stacking bales would get a bit hard work obviously but still not a bad backup machine.
