An issue is raising its head which has been in the making for the last ten years,, or possibly more.
However our leaders are too busy worrying about getting their skiing trips in next winter without being called out for hypocrisy that they have not noticed how this storm gathering.
They have jumped on the anti fracking band wagon to appease middle England. They have demolished the coal fired power stations without a care as to where the gas to run the generation of stations is coming from.
They have not built the nuclear stations to ensure when the sun does not shine and the wind does not blow we can keep warm.
Instead they have allowed us to become dependent on the vagaries of a few despots to control our energy supplies, and I am not talking EDF here.
They have allowed industries once considered essential for out national security to be flogged off to foreign owners who give not a damn about our military or domestic concerns
Why is anyone at all surprised when a perfect storm comes and these people decide to screw every last penny they can out of us.
We can see energy bills doubling this winter, which may be wonderful for me as a generator but it could hit the economy harder than Covid. Further there is no sign that this energy inflation is going to cease .
But hey ho, you can all fly off skiing, if you can afford it.
Will this be Boris’s nemesis?

Winter of discontent in the making! Shoulda listened to @wanton dwarf. He has been campaigning to send the urchins back down the pits. No more of these grandiose notions of secondary education, never mind college.😏

It's just the world we live in now. We lurch from one crisis to another, there is no longer any looking ahead, no listening to people who actually have some accumulated wisdom from experience. Politicians know they have their short moment and then they can hand the problems they generate to the poor sod who follows them, and then they say phew I'm glad I don't have to deal with that sh!t any more. We just lurch from one newsworthy item to the next, trying to placate an out-of-control media as best we can. Everyone over a certain age knows it's happening but nobody seems to be able to do anything about it. The only people who are being listened to are precisely the ones who know fekk all about what the answers are, let alone the questions.

I'm off to take my tablets....

dont worry ashy ,you will be in exactly the same boat ,but with more holes

I know. Filled a shed this year with turf, coal, briquettes, and timber. Three years heating fuel in stock. Leccy will have to take care of itself. Think I should also stick next years fertilise in the yard also. It’s going to be very expensive next spring I reckon.

Was talking to my mum about how she better stock up on candles last night.

Winter of discontent take 2 I recon. Followed by a push back against renewable and a middle finger to climate change next year.

The other major thing people aren't talking about is microchips and semiconductors. And how when China does invade Taiwan they will be a major producer and control a major share of the market, to the disadvantage of countries like ourselves who are now reliant on them.

Certainly we could👍
but put humans into the mix and your buggered😕

Supermarket freezers account for 1% of all UK electricity use. Put lids on them.
HGV's are 2% of road traffic yet account for 22% of emissions. Stop hauling ready made sandwiches 100's of miles.
Have a look at the city skyline in the early hours. Turn the bloody lights out !
Thousands and thousands of jobs in filling every loft with wool insulation.

And so on and so on. If we could just be bothered, if we just applied a tiny bit of intellect to all of this, we could slash consumption and make lives and communities better.

Huge difference could be made if people put a jumper on and turned the heating down, etc etc
