i have given up believing forcasts, we have had two yellow weather warnings this month and have had 6mm total in sept......If it rains like forecast pre ems will work well. Our best blackgrass control last year was on the earliest drilled crops. Weird.

In an ideal world I would drill everything in last two weeks of October. Fortunately I am not an idealist (learnt the hard way)Best yields here last year from nov drilled ww. Good BG control too. Not a clean enough farm to do much before middle oct

Well if this turns out to be half accurate I might be kicking myself in a few weeks, maybe I should plough through the night and try get some second wheat in tomorrow...
Our weather is silly , you should know that .Actually we need a bit of wet but not silly quantities.
have you not started either? The perks of being the other side of the river.
no.seems everyone making clouds of dust.
had less than 10mm since mid July, hardly a vounteer has chitted, grass burnt to a crisp.
after bad blackgrass last year, plenty of seed return. am i the only one stalling?
Do you went to Shutts aged 11 ?For those with very long memories:
In 1969 we'd finished drilling by the end of September just as I set off for my first year at Shutts.
The following year, 1970, was notorious for septoria when a lot of new varieties with potential broke down [Maris Nimrod I seem to remember] and the farm manager said, "We are never again going to drill wheat before the end of September."
Rather similar to the Extase problems this year ?
Well we have just finished combining the last of the spring barley today
well start drilling tommorrow
Be nice to get some drilled in September for a change
Lol
( were always last around here)
