The Tories are not working...

This generation of Tories are very keen to gamble.

Gambled on Scottish independence
Gambled on the EU membership
Gambled on reorganisation of education and the NHS
Gambled on getting rid of gas storage and relying on interconnectors and the free market in what is a near monopoly
Gambling on food security and scrapping subsidies

Gambling on not being caught when they shovel money towards their pals/pub landlords/mistresses

And so on.

Some have paid off, but in my opinion, most have not or will not.

Either way, it's not very conservative behaviour.

Ok lets see, there wasnt an issue with fuel until the media created one.

Energy price rises are world wide

Tax rises are needed to pay for all the money they gave away, mind if inflation takes off that will help the debt a lot but f**k over those living on savings.

Strangely if the nhs couldn't do stuff for 12 months it's hardly surprising waiting times are rising, hows the times in wales and scotland that arent tory run.

Are the tories the best government ever ? Not by a long way but we get the government we vote for based on the media spin we see.
Let's face it what is the alternative to the tories ? A labour party where the deputy leader says the cabinet is scum? Is that the level of politics we have descended to ?

Sorry but the current fuel crisis was bubbling up before the media got hold of it. Our local fuel stations were running out Tuesday . I remarked to my wife there was an issue when I came back from refuelling my car in preparation for the weekend.
The situation with gas prices have been rising for the last ten years and many in the energy industry have been shouting about it , but the media and government were not listening. We must de carbonise took precedent over everything. Coal fired stations were shut down , nuclear was a red hot topic which the government kicked down the road as it was as popular with voters as GM technology.
Consequently we now are at the point which everyone in the industry has warned about , a cool summer with a continental high maintaining low wind and cloudy days at the expense of the renewables. Our reliance on gas is steadily increasing but being held in check by interconnectors bringing in a steady 5 Gigawatts per hour from the French nuclear and coal plants.
When we lost 2GWH per hour in a fire the system went into meltdown as gas fired stations were bought into play putting a huge demand for gas and there was no emergency reserves pushing prices into the stratosphere

Dont disagree about the emergency storage, it's the same issue as food security and manufacturing in this country, neither party has done anything about the long term but rather their city pals have told them shuffling shares round and round and creaming off a penny each time is the future.
The tories at least had the bottle to give Hinckley the go ahead wheat as teflon tony and gordon just kicked it down the road, germany must be in the same sh!t,shut down nuclear and reduce brown coal generation and sold their souls to the ruskies, of course Merkel has done a runner just in time to avoid the sh!t.
Of course if people need warmth this winter they could all put a f**king thicker jumper on as everyone one did till the 80's, how the f**k did the human race ever survive in caves and cold drafty houses

Actually it was Gordon Brown who gave the go ahead for Hinckey and it was expected to be up and running by the mid 2020’s 😂

We have the national grid line from Hinckley through the farm as the b plant is meant to shut next july I wonder if it will still be used, I suspect they will keep the old plant operating a bit longer if the gas price is still high.

Not according to google and the bbc it was given approval in 2016, previously it was just talk and "plans"
The project started under G Brown in fact the scheme was slowed up by the 2010 elections due to arguments about financing and the incoming conservative government. Sadly neither side of the political spectrum appreciated the dire need for extra generation capacity and the Conservatives were having a love in with the Chinese at the time

The parallels between the current Brexit Britain, and your average Banana Republic are striking.
Rampant corruption and cronyism. Power shortages. Fuel shortages. Food shortages. Competition laws suspended. Army on the streets. Megalomaniac in No 10. Member of Royal Family a fugitive.
The boat people currently scuttling across the channel, will soon I dare say be joined by many, many more, scuttling in the opposite direction.

How are you going to cope when all the post brexit, paddy passport claimants head your way?
I forsee the IQ status of both the UK and Eire skyrocketing.

Discuss.
Will it be a winter of unhappiness in the face of

Fuel shortages https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/be...nister-tells-britons-queuing-fuel-2021-09-26/
Energy price rises https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money...ill-energy-price-cap-rise-280-April-year.html

Waiting list rises https://ifs.org.uk/publications/15557

Or is this all the media's fault for reporting stuff?
Very interesting article about waiting lists rising. There was a period when they were actually falling and the reason given was that there was a fall in the number of referrals from doctors. Now there is a huge surprise when the doctors were ordered to hide. I got a referral for a serious eye condition but I had to get it from a doctor working in the private sector (Specsavers).
A doctor prescribed a course of physiotherapy but did not make the referral himself but gave me a link to a self referral system for NHS physio. Needless to say I am still waiting after two months and I rather think this has gone into TRASH.

Two decades of devolution have been disastrous for health & social care in NI

7 major reviews *not* implemented
Waiting lists 100x that of England (30x pop)
6+ yr waits for care
Highest spend in UK with worst outcomes
No workforce planning
Staffing crisis
