Agreed. The bottle neck maybe the gantry operators at the storage facilities. Hopefully some of Management can fill this void

Why not. Must be plenty of drivers who deliver large quantities of fuel for the army/ air force without incident.
I would bet the military bases in the UK are largely supplied by commercial tankers driven by civilians, I doubt the army sends driver Bob on a click and collect supply run from the refinery. Given our army has been shrunk to about a dozen men how many suitably qualified drivers do they really have, with nothing else to be doing, to take up the call?

Farming on the edge of one of the largest training areas and next to a camp I can guarantee that the army has its own fuel tankers. Knowing the military obsession with red tape I assume all the drivers are qualified for it.

Not sure they have enough personnel left to drive them after all the cuts though

Not many army machines or vehicles use petrol, so they will have little or no experience. 36000L of petrol in a tank is one heck of a large amount of pent up energy.
I remember when the late willie burns lorry en rout to lanark implement sale hit a petrol tanker in biggar. Creating a fireball
The road is still not right 30 yr later

Theres a regular run of RAF tankers on the A1, but it's probably 'forward air refuelling' at private airfields for exercises, like they do at Eshott in Northumberland.

If the MoD did release drivers they probably wouldn't be using RAF tankers due to the risk of contaminating the Jet A1 fuel.
