I have just had my weekly view of Hewitt salvage auction and I am surprised to see a one year old merlo written off because of seized engine ... surely would have been cheaper to replace engine??

time for a bigblock v8 conversionDeutz 3.6L? i expect. Just doing bits for one in a manitou samething siezed solid! but is a 2015 plate.
New complete engine with ECUs etc £17.5k plus vat (the only engine offering from manitou, no short or long option)
(Manitou do not sell crank shaft, conrods, pistons or rings to rebuild and no exchange offering)
Deutz UK Exchange long engine still way too much money and the terms and conditions are quite extensive with extra charges if its not palleted correctly not cleaned, not wrpaed in shrink wrap, not full assembled or bits missing etc etc etc Also got to wait around 5 weeks for germany to build one!
Deutz UK parts come to around the 5k mark plus vat but 5 weeks wait on the crank shaft and no date on the conrods yet!
If there was finance on it under a year old it's pretty standard not to repair and replace with newI have just had my weekly view of Hewitt salvage auction and I am surprised to see a one year old merlo written off because of seized engine ... surely would have been cheaper to replace engine??

A bit unfair, family have a Kramer 30+ years and still plodding along nicely.Steer clear of anything with a Deutz engine by the sound of it!

I have never mentioned using rotaspreader chassisIt'll be cheap get on it and put it in local paper.... It'll fit on the Rotospreader chassis.
Don't start being sensible. It's much easier to get half a story and post a pointless thread and make the rest upOk, so let’s use logic and common sense…… if it’s only 1 year old, I’m pretty sure merlo uk would “help” so it’s hardly a write off. What is the actual condition and what caused it ? Rather than we all say how terrible Deutz engines are !
Maybe someone forgot to tighten the sump plug after an oil change ? Who knows ?Ok, so let’s use logic and common sense…… if it’s only 1 year old, I’m pretty sure merlo uk would “help” so it’s hardly a write off. What is the actual condition and what caused it ?
