Can it survive with increased levels of ergot and fusarium?
Surely there's other chems in the pipeline ?

It must depend on what weeds are in the seed bank when you start.
With Cranesbill here, I think we'd be swamped in year one without cultivation. Glyphosate is pretty useless on it as well.

We're going to try the Wildfarmed technique here. Basically involves cultivating strips in an existing ley, 50cm apart and planting wheat in the strip. Then graze the lot in the spring (T0) and later mowing the ley down between the rows a couple of times. Harvest. Organic very min till, not exactly no-till.

Hours and hours of cultivations raking the damned stuff into rows to be burned is my recollection in 1975/6 after the drought, then in 1977 we sprayed an area as an experiment. Never looked back...
Mr Cutler was I suspect, correct!
Seem to remember a product called Eptam used in spuds, but it's a bloody long time ago!

Electricity, maybe, if the right technology comes along... I had doubts but I am starting to see it might eventually become a practical solution, maybe another 20 years or so... Its never going to be as cheap or quick as a 24m sprayer with 4L of glyphosate though.

Got a friend who's organic and you wouldnt believe the amount of couch there, he held a ploughing match and actually it was a delight to plough as the roots kept the soil all together so much like ploughing a grass ley.
I think notill can survive without glyphosate but most likely only with livestock
If you move away from glyphosate you may as well go organic and take a premium
If glyphosate goes I suspect a replacement will appear pretty fast - to big a gap in the market for someone not to fill surely ? Notill or otherwise
