Why would it blow up all its doing is powering mowers
How much does a new bed cost? Multiply that by three. Hydrostats and oil motors? Engine?
Or course you could be lucky…..

Are they notorious for blowing up ?
Can’t find the classic tractor mag but the fella said the costings for reconditioning the hydrostat motors and he’d changed the beds on one aswellHow much does a new bed cost? Multiply that by three. Hydrostats and oil motors? Engine?

We could dress one up in some nice clothes for you if you wish!Nah, it doesn't look cool.
A contractor near me has a big m , it’s a few years old , he also has tripples , the man mowing can keep a head of the new jd Sp with the big m , he couldn’t keep ahead with the tripples on its own. He’s knocking 5000 acres with it.there were a good amount of the large contractors in Ireland (5000acre +) using Big M 2s going back more than 5years ago. Not near as many now, most have changed to treble mowers. I heard one say, fine troublesome machine they are.
Did u ever buy a tractor after havin the mccorrmick demo out?Is it just me or do they not look bloody good value secondhand ? I noticed drew farming life bought one few minor niggles but was blown away with its performance could stop smiling ! Thinking he was felling 30 acre hr ? Worth a punt or bag o shyt ?
No , I was never going to buy a tractor I got a demo to do silage.Did u ever buy a tractor after havin the mccorrmick demo out?
Going back to about 2000 the original Big M had a JD engine and JD forager cab plus all 3 mower beds were the same and interchangeable. Is it just me or do they not look bloody good value secondhand ? Quite a few round here. Nearly if u dont have 1 as a contractor ur gettin left behind but havin said that a local crowd has couple of xerions with triple rear mounted mowers and theyd whip the arse off any big m but obviously they cant autoswath wholecrop and in wet conditions the big m is better as more even weight distribution
Don’t know but at least you can hook the mowers off a xerion and put the hay Bob on after cutting unlike the big MWould a Xerion compete with a Big M? More power etc?
ScottishAn irish guy on youtube runs a big m and has some stuff on youtube about it, farmer Drew.
That's really their biggest con, they're a one trick pony but if your operation doesn't require a big tractor for anything else it makes sense.Don’t know but at least you can hook the mowers off a xerion and put the hay Bob on after cutting unlike the big M
