Why not??
No idea but not in Wales either although it’s totally rife!!! If it wasn’t for scab I’d go to the marts and buy but it’s way to risky and I’d need a lot to warrant getting a dipper in.
Nothing too see stores totally bald on some farms through scab. They don’t care they put them next to totally clean closed flocks either and don’t bother with fencing.

For those that dip and use a mobile handling system to handle them pre dipping what do you do with the handling system? 20 days no handling? Run them back through or knapsack the whole system?

Unless there are pressing reasons not to do so...put your own dip in, go on the course, do then before tupping every year.
(or possibly at height of fly season if that works better..... i'm going off hill conditions where flies are less of a bother, and communal gathering period is autumnal)

keep ivomectin drugs for worming.....

How do lice/scab mites move without close ovine contact?
Good question, although I've always been suspicious of corvids going from farm to farm when sheep are being trough fed.
We've watched them learn routines of neighbouring farmers......and it only takes a bit of wool picked up in one place and dropped at the next.
What’s the best dipper design? Who supplies pre cast tubs?

I'm sure there's differing opinions...
I cast a round plastic round dip into concrete -rationale being it won't matter when the plastic fails.
(maker began with P...but eluding me this instance)

My only real gripe with it is that the top step out of the exit is right at brisket height for a lamb.
(so wee'uns struggle)

Scab is a notifiable disease.
not in england

Why is it not notifiable in England? And should it be a notifiable disease.

Edit: I see Sheepwise asked the same question, but it won't do any harm to repeat it.

Maybe we should shoot all feral sheep and anything else that carries scab, and outlaw sheep dealing where dealers have sheep spread over a wide area. Many years ago, a farmer phoned a dealer to ask when he was going to take his sheep back. The dealer replied: ''what sheep?''
